Tempted ?!
When it went to HK, including import taxes it would have cost over £150k....At those prices, it would be a no...
As great as the re-creations / resto-mods are, and I'm a big fan, they don't make sense to me at these prices, unless you're the one speccing the car.
Having said that, it is a fab little thing, sensory overload on every journey and one I won't forget.

Lovely car. Read the write up on it and was tempted when it was last up for sale but prices of these now are crazy. At those prices, it would be a no...

Modified 911 sold at the Bonhams auction today. The company’s “best ever” build and the owner sold it after doing 500 miles. So many of these builds seem to get sold without barely being used.

Stunning build, though the badging on the engine cover is somewhat out of character, but more worryingly, it just doesn't look "right", not sure if it's the stance, the wheel & tyre combo or the colour (or a combination of all three) but it really doesn't float my boat https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/26117/lot/214/?ca...

Agree...looks ‘over-wheeled’... if that’s even a phrase...
Seats also rather odd, begging for Recaro PP’s
Would be easy to rectify, nice car otherwise.

ST would have rolled on 8 & 9 (IIRC) X 15" wheels originally, but that rather limits your tyre choices. As in just Michelin TB's if you want the car to look period correct.
The 16" wheels just don't "work", add in the somewhat strange stance and a Marmite colour (for me) and it doesn't scream £130K's worth.
Now if it was Viper Green or Blut Orange and sat on 15" wheels (which probably wouldn't fit over the brakes ...) and had some more period correct seat or PP's, I think it would be considerably more desirable ...
A lot of these builds are obviously done by those who have a fair amount of disposable income as they probably like the idea of their own personalised car.
But they're probably thw same people who get tired of their current Ferrari or 911 GT3 and move on to the next car that takes their eye.
Anyone who's modified a car will know they're unlikely to get their money back. These are just on a grander scale.
On the flip side, there are one or two cars I keep an eye out for an their owners are obviously holding on to them.

Unbelievable value as it will have cost the client £200-250k easy. I have to say stunning car I wish I owned that. I’d personally have left it as a 964 and maybe gone maritime or mint green.https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/26117/lot/214/?ca...
Sadly the UK market does appears not "value" these modified builds, that 9M car is a classic case in point, very high standard of build and great spec and it will have returned the owner around £100k after selling costs, which will be less than 50% of the build costs, the car would have sold better on collecting cars and he would have got 100% of the hammer price which was £115k and reached a better audience.
There's a few of us that do value them on a miles/fun basis. I've driven some exotic cars and I'd take that Saffire Blue ST in my garage before a modern like a 765LT s, GT2 RS or 488 Pista for weekend fun. I know the market would take the moderns but the biggest thing against the newer cars is their mass and complexity. For simple fun that ST very difficult to beat. Looks very cool too. One of the best looking 911s I've seen hence I'm perplexed why owners do this ie build at huge expense then shift the car on for half the money. Seems nuts and happens all too often. Not a good advert for Ninemeister either actually a bit unfair you don't hear about the ones that their customers keep forever and are buried in.
I'd still love a modern though as an addition to the garage though

Its the rear track, looks wrong to me. Looks like it's fitted with a set of wheel spacers. Nice build but it's a shame to butcher a 964 for this.https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/26117/lot/214/?ca...
Can’t quite get my head around why it would take 600 hours to prep and paint a car..?
That’s one skilled person, for what, 15 weeks working 8 hours a day on one car...
I know it’s an intricate process and what’s involved, but honestly that just doesn’t sound right. If I was quoted that at the start of a build I’d be going elsewhere, or thinking I’d got the wrong base car to start with.

Be interesting to get the ST on the scales and see what she weighs. Whilst the 964 C2 is a small car mine felt very heavy and build quality like a Tiger tank. Just the way the doors open and closed used to fill me with a warm feeling. Looking at pics its hard to take the mass/weight out of the 964 visually but they've done a decent job but I still see a 964 in drag.
I agree with Slippy....colour and wheels just don’t work and the seats are dreadful.
Sure it’s probably lovely to drive but when you have so many drivetrain components from a 993/964 personally think you’d be better staying with a car that looks of that period.
As trantorman says I think this would have done better on Collecting Cars....looking at the auction overall it seems like it was a bit underwhelming.
