Hi All.

Just starting a new restoration project - a 928 S2 - been in storage for some time so paintwork in great condition but electrics, brakes, bearings, etc need sorting out...anyone have any recommendations for a good garage / mechanic who knows these cars ?

Thanks
Prashan

In my limited experience you get front or rear engined Porsche specialists. So I’d be looking for a front engined Porsche specialist rather than a Porsche specialist. These cars are complex, especially electrically, so with the $hours saved with someone experienced specifically in 928s it’s worth seeking them out. No idea who though sorry.

And, pics?

I'd include and suggest JAZ Porsche in St.Albans.

Not in Herts but only one place to go to restore a 928 S2 mechanically

http://www.nixsoft-consulting.co.uk/928spares/

for glass out respray I'd use this bunch. Very good and cost effective too. 911 Virgin use them for all their paintwork.

I'm very jealous good S2 manual pretty rare beasts. Best 928 for me

Wait until you drive a sorted GTS manual or a SE smile

Or the S4 manual that I am restoring

Hi Prashan,

Your car is not an S2 or even an S. It is important when talking to prospective workshops that you make this distinction.

Well against Reg: UOA 568Y (Red)

The car appears to be Jan 1983 model with a 4700cc so would suggest it was a 928S?

OP what's the gearbox? 4 speed auto?

Yes 4.7 definitely would suggest an S, in which case I stand corrected. Doesn’t look like one though.

Pics from OP's other thread.

It's a Porsche. People tend to swap wheels, spoilers etc to get the look they want.

Looks like the front lower spoiler has been removed and the wheels may be original or an older set fitted.

The OP could do some research and find the original build spec from the VIN by going HERE
