991 is same width as 997 surprisingly. It's more the length that seems the issue, longer wheel-base removing the 911 traits we know and love

Are 964's with (working) air con common or rare as unicorn teeth?
I remember many MANY years ago looking at 964's with my brother and all the ones advertised would say something along the lines of ..... air con (assume not working)
Is this a common problem that is easily fixed?
My air cooled 911s never had working air.I remember many MANY years ago looking at 964's with my brother and all the ones advertised would say something along the lines of ..... air con (assume not working)

It is air cooled, donnor engine to start with was a 964,thrown most parts away, replaced with rsr crank and cylinder heads, rsr cams,Carrillo rods,je pistons, motorsport rockers ,springs etc, motec, jenvey throttle bodies,up front dry sump, tilton tripple plate 5 1/4 inch clutch and lwt flywheel, rsr oil pump, rsr flat belt conversion, etc etc,
Amazing, always great to see people building interesting cars, it's becoming a lot more rare these days. With the Cup tyres, does that mean it goes on road or track days (as opposed to being a pure race car)?

Hi Paul, hope you're well ? I'd go the other way (997 Cup engine in a '69 car) ...thats bit of project also, but it will probably be a bit heavier, theory is the less drag of 996,yet to see if the rear wing drags this one to a stop!
When are you out hillclimbing locally again ?

You have issues with everything that is not self serving.
The very fact that you feel air cooled cars lack over taking power only serves to highlight your ignorance,1965 2.0L are reaching speeds of circa 147mph at Spa.
A: I own none so how is it self serving !!! I just said with my money a 964 or a 911E would do me if I wanted that sort of thing ie. usable air cooler or a nice classic those 2 would be my top picks. The very fact that you feel air cooled cars lack over taking power only serves to highlight your ignorance,1965 2.0L are reaching speeds of circa 147mph at Spa.
B: Shock ! highy modded £250k custom built race cars are quite fast (still only 220bhp/t mind you) so a bit short over even a Cayman R as an example :-)
So either you are being a bit ignorant or stupid yourself or you just want to pick a fight thinking I don't know anything ?
You only have to read your previous posts to see that most are all self serving, talking up what you have and like but talking down and being argumentative about what you dont! - Its so tiresome!
However you have no issue in contracting yourself when you change cars, so I would not be surprised to see in the future posting rave reviews about these slow air cooled cars.
Take a day off, even your rhino like skin must need a break!

I have had the Electro A/C (retro)fitted on my 1988 3.2 and it works a treat even in the recent hot weather. I am sure they have now developed a model for the 964 also....worth checking this out.
I've not heard of electric a/c in cars. Do you have any more details you could share? It could make having a classic to bimble about in during summertime much more appealing for the family!anonymous said:

I went from 996.2 GT3 to air cooled. I loved the GT3 on track but not as a road car, even with bespoke suspension and set up. My old 1970 911was lithe and fluid over every surface, just a bit slow. I must add that I think the 997 a better car than the 996 in terms of looks, interior and drive, but each to their own. My wife has a 997.1 and I think I'm going to have to prise the keys out of her dead fingers (many years hence I hope).

Not sure you are allowed to say a 996 GT3 was not a nice road car or a 1970's 911 is too slow on here. :-)I must add that I think the 997 a better car than the 996 in terms of looks, interior and drive, but each to their own. I think the point everyone misses about you is that all of us like to talk our own toys up a bit but in terms of your cars they speak for themselves no need to talk them up or down. On the GT3 some people enjoy ringing the neck out of an engine on a weekend fun drive but personally I'm with you and prefer good mid range torque on road. Also every example drives differently with some feeling more lively than others. They're getting on 20 yrs old now!
Back on topic was that green RS evocation up at JZM for £129,995 earlier this yr?
I sold my 997 gt3 clubby and bought a rhd 57 356a x race car. I found the gt3 brilliant but too fast to use on the road. I love my 57 great fun and tiny. It wil keep up with modern cars on the road. I feel it's more fun driving a slow car fast, rather than a fast car slow. With today's cameras etc l would have lost my license with the gt3. I haven't looked back

Hi|https://thumbsnap.com/tRxCuJCq
Just wondered did you attend the super coat meet at the Hare pub in Roxwell last year. If so I spoke to you regarding your change from a gt3.
Lovely car .
