Trio Porsche 356: these drivers don't care if it rains wink

Fantastic restauration 'from scratch'

Epic story of a 15 year old who became a 356 connaisseur and is an authority at 24

Lovely patina on this 356 Coupe preserved 'as is'.

I’m really getting into these little cars. In terms of character, they punch a long way above their weight.

Time for some reading I think

I have been for a while. Beautiful cars. But I just think it will be just too damn slow for us

Agreed, that’s the limiting factor. From our perspective You’d need a very highly strung 4 pot to make it work. It can be done but it won’t be cheap. And then there’s the rest of the running gear. There are some nicely done Outlaws that occasionally come up though. Not for the purists but the interchangeability of Porsche engineering is becoming more accepted as a valid tuning option I suppose these days

You are all so wrong.

I daily drive both modern and old 911s and a well sorted 356 is right up there in terms of excitement. The damn things don't weigh anything.

About 90 brake is on par with an early 2 litre 911. As long as you're brave enough wink On our R Gruppe run the 356 did not hang about wink try one and you'll be hooked.

OPC Leeds have a Rod Emory 356 up for sale at the momet...has its original engine but alos comes with an Emory engine. Advert says 231 bhp but I think thats punchy for what Emory engines normally put out.

https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

It was up for sale a few months ago for closer to £250k and I think had the Emory engine in it at the time.

I think 356’s are beautiful cars and would really like one.

Your not so wrong guys!,they are beautiful, quirky handling and brakes that leave something to be desired, great when working 100% but suffer fade if not carefull.
I had a convertable D,a slightly more refined speedster, great car with 90bhp but lacking.

I raced for a season the very first porsche ever to race in the uk,a 1954 356 which had a superstrong 150bhp engine,it was fast relatively, proper drivers car, oversteer around or exit of every corner, brake problems all the time but a great experience.
The highlight was raceing at 24 hr lemans in her at the 2015 supporting race, great fun, rained half way through the race.

It is indeed. I write for Dutch RS Porsche Magazine and the 911 GTS was so boring I was tempted to loose my license...

I've seen that car around. It was for sale at SCoM a few months back. I liked a few of the little detail touches, and used them on my car too. Mine is currently in bits during the salty winter months as the chrome is off to the platers.

Mine has a few more HP than the stock SC due to a big bore 1720cc kit, a little porting, and the compression ratio is now 9.5:1. On the dyno it was doing 104 HP at the wheels. This sort of engine specification isn't expensive to achieve if you DIY it, and gives you a car that is more than capable of keeping up with modern traffic. 80mph + cruising is OK, if a bit noisy, and you can get to a ton if you rally want to fairly easily. It has almost exactly the same sort of performance envelope as my Audi A2 1.4 TDi, but uses twice as much fuel in the attempt.

That’s the one kneeslider it’s now in my garage, I bought it direct from Steve, didn’t like the price tag SCoM were asking.

I must admit when I look at classic 911s and other original design Porches I melt. The 356 is my new fav of the moment. Its lines are so simple and it looks top notch.

New to the forum - my main likes are 911s, 356s and LR 90 Defenders - Susie
