As far as I'm aware the 914 was always built with LHD, but this period road test review from Car magazine in July '71 shows a UK reg'd RHD car....

Was it the only one and was it converted to RHD at the factory, or when it arrived in the UK...? I've long had a soft spot for these, I know some people don't see them as true Porsches but that has never put me off wanting one. The Brooklands road test book on them has just arrived in the post, time for a cuppa.... coffee

All lhd factory cars, crayford converted a batch in the uk of around 11 or so cars, good mate has a rhd one, great little cars.
I think his Rhd is for sale around 50k,great history and i think from memory holds a few records for the 2.0ltr class,as it has a formula v engine.

Where is it for sale? Is it a Crayford? Some others (idk how many) were done in Aus / NZ and then imported to the UK.

There's quite a 914 following on DDK, so that's a good place to frequent to get info.

Its a crayford,Super rare and in great condition for the year, not aware of any one else bar home conversions,a crayford has come back from australia i believe.
Good 914/6 are expensive now, they also suffered big time rust, especially in the sills under the battery etc. They handle better than a early 911,great cars, once gear shift is sorted out.
The porsche club 914 register is very knowledgable and helpful as well as ddk.

I certainly prefer the handling of my 911 to the 914! Mind you, both are great!

I used to have a 914 (albeit with the 914/6 arches) and it was great fun. I've never driven anything with such an awful gear change, although eventually I did get used to it. It was only let down by the lack of power really but I'd love another.
