I went from a 964 Carrera 2 to a 993 4S then 993 2S. For me the 2's were far better to drive, a bit lighter and more nimble. Most driving in all of them on long trips around Europe. The 964 was quite special but the 993 2S wins overall for me.

OT, nice one, How does such 993 4 drives/feel, I mean sporty and steering stuff, compared to say a carrera 4 964 ,
which I found a bit 'dull' compared to the carrera 2 which I then bought at the time.
also, does a 993 4S (wider version) drives the same-ish as a 993 4 ?
I had 3 993s - a ‘94 C2, a 95 C2 (both bought new to my spec) and a ‘97 C4 Varioram (bought pre-owned).

IMO the C4 was the best. Very nicely balanced, with a more responsive front end and more direct turn-in.

The 964 C4 had different early awd technology, and I also felt it to be a bit disappointing with more understeer.

Limited experience of the wide-bodied 993s. Did quite a few miles in a 993 Turbo, but wasn’t really my cup of tea - preferred the NA power delivery and softer chassis of the lighter narrow bodied cars.

I have a c4, and have driven several c2/c2s when swapping around with friends on trips to the Welsh valleys. Putting them through their paces on proper roads, I didn't notice any major difference between 2 and 4 wheel drive and I couldn't have tried harder!

If anyone is in the market just buy the best example you can find: forget about 2/4 wheel drive and varioram too. All IMHO of course.

Thanks Geneve and Harry, so 'better' or different experience (993 C4) then the 964 C2 vs C4 comparison, fine to read thumbup
give's more options if I one day would choose that route for a while.

...never mind that C4 - just look at that survivor Sierra wagon

Congrats on the 993 ...even sweeter after a long search (can take years to find the right car)

Decided to swap the wheels over to the factory hollow spokes. Can't decide which I prefer more.

also washed it. I hate washing cars.

That's a lovely looking 993 you've got.

Way better on the hollow spokes I think, stance looks spot on.

Just silencers. Mapped by Wayne at chip wizards. Makes a healthy 304bhp and revs beautifully now.

its been used for 'making progress' across Dartmoor and Exmoor recently. It feels better after each proper drive.

I've done a couple of 500 round trips in the UK, no plans for Europe at the min as life is getting in the way.

Love that you are using it properly and getting out and about. Such a lovely car.
