Are Speciale That Special

It wasn't a limited edition model; a limited production time yes but no limit on numbers.
Yeah its a regular production car in plentiful numbers which makes the silly prices seem even more silly in reality. Not disputing that its a great car but pay these sort of premiums expect to get your fingers severely burnt at some stage

Left hookers or RHD AsiaPac cars help reduce the premium. Mind you if you think the Speciale premium is silly, the LE Speciale Aperta is off the charts

First of all. It's Speciale.
Then yes it is as special as they say it is. I agree that the pricing for RHD went ballistic as soon as people started to realise how good it was. And being the last n/a V8 made things worse.
I personally bought a LHD as it was more reasonably priced. It's not s car I use everyday and driving the other side doesn't bother me. You can only really drive with a certain commitment on wider open roads so being on the other side is not a big deal. Track you would not notice and Euro trips which is what you really want to do in this car you would be better off. I also bought before the exchange rate exploded so I guess it helped.
I am about to take it to the German Alps and a few Austrian and Italian passes. I might run a blog here on PH on the trip.
In any case at any speed it's ferocious and visceral. So special no journey is dull. Gears are so short you can actively use up to 4th gear without getting too much into jail territory. Love it.
The only negative for me is the width coming from a GT3 I think it's too wide for our stty UK undeveloped road network. And the radio is so st it's not even funny.
Yes please right up a blog about your trip and the best hotels to go and roads to drive on. I'm thinking of doing a trip like that in my F355 Spider, the hotels will need to have decent place to put my pride and joy. Then yes it is as special as they say it is. my superleggera comes up as a murcielago on various insurance and tyre databases : there's no model at all on the v5 !
Speciales are truly amazing cars and all could be sold for a healthy premium over list tomorrow. None are shifting as sellers are chasing an imanginary monster premium that only exists in Pistonheads listings. Exactly same applies to GT3 RS and 675lt. Offered 50k over list on an RS that's been for sale for months last week and owner pretty much accused me of being a time waster. Sellers have simply got greedy and lost sight of reality.

Your "SL" is actually a Corsa with a Barry boy wing bolted on it though my superleggera comes up as a murcielago on various insurance and tyre databases : there's no model at all on the v5 !

Absolutely right. The cars are simply not selling but no one wants to reduce the prices and be realistic relying on all the over hype. Some will eventually come under stock pressure and want to free up the funding/money.If there is a price correction things will move fairly fast as they all panic offload

Hey Rosino - I also thought the radio was rubbish but have now found all the tone controls. The menu is not even mentioned in the Speciale manual. Just press and hold the middle button of the R/H panel and a new menu come up. With a lot more bass, it is now acceptable for me.Then yes it is as special as they say it is. I agree that the pricing for RHD went ballistic as soon as people started to realise how good it was. And being the last n/a V8 made things worse.

Probably explains why Challenge Stradales still slightly bid while Speciales slightly offered.

I think they are a good investment right now.
Seems you also had the car my brother currently has - Extreme RS450. What did you do with yours?
The good news on Speciales is for CS owners as there were only 119 RHD ever made of those. Far rarer and a much more desirable car in my opinion.

I suspect we'll find the Speciale is different in the long term as it benefits from being the last naturally aspirated V8 Ferrari we will ever see. Not the first of a line, nor the middle of a line, the end of the line for n/a V8s.
Added bonus the Speciale doesn't look like a Chinese Gentlemen grinning inanely. Once you've seen it, you can't stop seeing it.
