Width of 488 Including mirrors

Just put deposit down on my 488GTB ... I am reading all sorts of conflicting information regarding the width of the car.

Some posts say the width includes mirrors, some say without...

Does anyone here have one they can go whip a tape measure across? I just need to know if it will fit in my garage.

I don't have the figures to hand but would point out that with mirrors on the doors rather than the corner of the windows the mirrors are the widest point even when folded. So far as parking in a garage is concerned the width of the body is academic. You need the measurements with mirrors out and mirrors in. I get my Scud in my garage with one mirror folded but cannot get a 458/ 488 through even with both mirrors folded.

A search brought this up where it is said that the width of a 458 is 7 feet with mirrors folded in.

7 feet is 213.5 cm and my door opening width is 210 cm.

I had exactly this with a 458 so can see it being the same for 488

My garage door opening is 216cm... can we assume it's too tight

Just measured mine now. 214cm at its narrowest point (exactly where the folded mirrors pass through, as luck would have it).
I have about .5cm space both sides, going straight in. More if I go in at a slight angle.

I would say so. It only takes one or two degrees in your angle of approach to be able to get one mirror through before straightening up and getting the other one in.
But by the sounds of it, your aperture is slightly wider than mine anyway.
What I wouldn't give for an extra 2cm!

Is it possible to put these in neutral and push inside or is it easy on the clutch in first so you can creep in

Fit a larger garage door!

Seriously, how much can it cost to get the opening professionally widened and a new door fitted? £10k?

I looked into that, but I live in a conservation area and couldn't get permission to switch from 2 single doors to a double.
OP: you definitely won't need to get out and push. That would be a deal breaker for me.

1 cm each side is soooooo tight at some stage its inevitable and conservation area or not the garage wall might get knocked down. If you currently have n up and over style door will a roller shutter door give you a few more inches. Can you lose half a brick ?

I think you need to find a garage solution prior to the car

Same as other poster. I am in a conservation area and the doors are barn style, so open outwards.

In a conservation area you can't even fit double glazing so removing a garage door and taking out a brick whilst sounds like a straight forward task isn't. Furthermore their is two of these doors so even if I could it would mean one bigger than other which would look odd.

I have a unit where I can store the car but in winter it would be nice to keep it at the house and keep it on trickle charge with the car cover on.

Pin some bubble wrap or packaging foam stuff to the door frame. My grand father also hangs old corks from the ceiling and if he hits them (sees them swinging) he knows he is too close. There are many ways of getting over narrow doors. Get the Ferrari first, then worry about parking it later...!!

1952 mm should just get into a standard door with mirrors folded - it may take practise and it may get exciting and/or traumatic but it can be done

I was that concerned I went and measured the car with mirrors folded... 207cm give or take a few mm... so should just scrape through.... I'll close my eyes and hope for the best

Interesting, and contradicts the previous information and my measurements of a 458. Has the design changed from 458 to 488?

The equivalent to 1952 mm shown above is 2261 mm (!) in the 488gtb manual 5010/15 1st edition
