Hello,

Just for the first time on a circuit with my F360, after 5-6 laps (3km lap), brakes lost power, then after 30 minutes of cool down it was back Ok.

Is this normal on the F360?

Thanks!

With OEM steel brake disks and road specification brake fluid yes.

With carbon ceramic (CCM) brakes this doesn't tend to happen. I bet your disks have turned blue too.

Oh, and it's not F360. Just 360 Modena.

It may be a sign that you need to change your brake fluid. With age, brake fluid will boil at lower temps because it absorbs water.
Another tip is to use as new as possible brake pads - the thicker the pad the more insulation from heat between the disc and the brake fluid.

Here's a picture of my Timate exhaust which broke apart whilst on track at Donnington. It's a bit disappointing as they market them as a lightweight race option. I did send pictures to Timate but they stopped making them some years ago. It's my second breakdown, last year the flywheel spun off at the ring resulting in a big repair bill. At 18 years old they definitely need a bit more TLC but they drive so good. Relatively light, NA engine and manual gearbox that I just can't get rid of her. I had a letter of intent for a GT3 but didn't get lucky. Even then I would've kept the 360 and had it as a full time track car and Sunday driver.

Yes, mine was exactly the same both at Yas Circuit in Abu Dhabi and at Castle Combe here in the UK, repeated stops from higher speeds will cause the normal steel brakes to lose effectiveness.... after a period to cool down they'll come back to being fine again.

I'm planning on uprating pads, fluid and hoses on mine over the winter to see if that makes an improvement

Thanks for this interesting testimony. My mechanics also said he was not surprised. They will change the fluid this week for a better one...

Very common, mine used to do this on the road after a long hard drive. Better pads and Castrol SRF fluid will make a good difference, better to replace the disks also with ones that can handle higher temps, otherwise more abrasive pads will kill the disks.
