Likely been asked before but I cant find it. Anyway, how do Maclaren service costs , repair costs and part costs compare with Ferrari V8 numbers?

Thinking in the 100k to 150 k car price range so outside the Ferrari 7 year service deal.

Do Maclaren dealers offer better labour rates for enthusiast owners of the older cars like some Ferrari dealers do?

I did not realise Maclaren made such expensive baby buggies - try Mothercare for a good deal

They are few (in reality no) independent McLaren service centres.

McLaren official centers are likely to compare in price to Ferrari official centres...however once the cars is a little older (in the case of Ferrari) there is the independent route (for maintenance, service and warranty).

So the Woking boys have the Mclaren owners over a bit of a barrel.

Some real world examples of costs I have incurred...

Annual warranty (super series) - £3,500
Annual service - £1,500
Front brake pads changed and rears cleaned (holes cleared) - £1,000

Lucked out today. Coming back from the Ferrari shop I called in at Maclaren Bristol to find out why their sales staff dont return calls. And not only did they have 3 factory drivers there offering rides in the spider but there were plenty of spaces on the list. And a few nibbles.

Got to say that Maclaren should pat themselves on the back for having produced such a good car in such a short time. IMO the 570S is every bit as good overall as the F car equivalent. Better ride, nicer gearbox but not quite as comfortable or as well finished inside. A short test on public roads doesnt say anything much about performance, not that I am a good enough driver to tell the difference on a track. But as a B road weekend special it was excellent with the only real downside being some turbo lag.

Anyway had a chat with the service manager and that was less impressive. Maclaren are clearly trying to force customers to go the dealer route even down to making the engine compartment un-openable by the owner. Routine services were quoted as £800 and £1400 for short and long , yearly or 10k miles whichever first. But if you are in the hands of a dealer with no indies, I have no doubt that the reality will be expensive. Interestingly the service manager implied that the Lambo they also sell was more trouble free. I guess you would expect that with a branch factory of VW.

Lack of indy garages and poor reliability make McLaren ownership a real pain for many.

I have had two services done (one 3rd year on a 12c and one 2nd year on a 650s) both were bang on the quoted price - with no extras

Had both my McLarens serviced at Bristol now and have to say they have been fantastic on both occasions. No problem booking them in and was offered courtesy cars of my choice.
Price was what I was quoted and no dearer than equivalent Ferrari TBH.
Understand Ascot may have capacity issues due to the volumes of McLarens London way but as a new dealer in a South West outpost Bristol are still building the customer base and really look after you
Service Manager there is a Lambo fan boy though biggrin.

Not with standing the Indy routine that sound reasonable to me for a supercar at stealer prices. The Porsche turbo s, by the time you add in a/c and brake fluid change, is approx £800 and £1500 for minor/major. The service is every 20k or two years. Though the warranty is much cheaper and reliability better.

Someone else has already corrected the spelling (and then had their spelling also corrected!) but I think you mean, "Lucked in" rather than "Lucked out"!

Is there a verb "to luck"? I suspect that both "lucked in" and "lucked out" are dreadful English.
