458 Speciale appreciation thread
Discussion
I absolutely love mine and have done 7,000 miles in 2.5years now. Can think of anything to replace it with.
Here’s a little vid I helped out on with a youtuber last Sunday. Wanted to test against equivalent Porsche and have some fun, which we did ! Excuse the naff doughnuts at the end but I had to drive home on those tyres which were pretty knackered. Hope you all enjoy.

Great thread; get out and use 'em: 2017's adventures in my CS including a damp early morning winter blast, a Silverstone track day and annual trip to Le Mans (not sure my boy liked who was in his seat!)- all in all she clicked over to 70k km. But given the title of the tread, should I sell my early manual V12 Murci for a Speciale? (ps: I will never let the CS go!)

Dear all,
I'm thinking of getting a Speciale, however I can't afford a massive depreciation, where do you see their prices in the next year or so ?
Do you think they have bottomed out ?
I have decided to go for Speciale instead of 488 coupe and 458 Spider.
Thanks
Dear Arsh-Naz, you have completely missed the point of this thread. Looking at your posting history I suspect half term is playing on your mind. Kindly move elsewhere to the numerous speculation and depreciation threads running on PH.I'm thinking of getting a Speciale, however I can't afford a massive depreciation, where do you see their prices in the next year or so ?

That's a bit harsh. I looked at his other posts and he does seem to be concerned about depreciation of a number of alternatives he is considering, which is legitimate. I'm concerned too about not taking a bath with my next one. And where best to get a view (apart from asking Rambolambo) than from those with skin in the game ?
But perhaps in fairness that isn't central to this thread which I am otherwise enjoying.

Possibly, but not in the context of this thread. There are far too many threads on PH that get polluted by what will this be worth in x,y,z seconds days weeks months etc. I am enjoying this thread because it is about people who enjoy driving their cars and appreciate them for that reason, not their fiscal value. Start a new thread if you want that debate but don't side-track these very rare conversations. Just my opinion of course but here I am further side-tracking. I'll stop now...
not a Speciale, but just picked up a Scuderia end of last week and already did about 1k km - certainly an event to drive. The dealer had an unregistered Speciale in the showroom, looked stunning (and will need to be registered by end of this year for some legal/emissions reason)

Did the 500 in August, albeit in my Spider rather than the Speciale. Superb, despite the bloody midges on the west coast.
One word of advice, whatever you do, dont stay at the Gairloch Hotel. Without doubt the worst hotel I've stayed in, ever.
It can't be any worse than the Royal Hotel in Thurso. So wrong in every aspect. My friend did a write up about it on the forum,One word of advice, whatever you do, dont stay at the Gairloch Hotel. Without doubt the worst hotel I've stayed in, ever.
Great to hear stories about owners using their Speciale/Scud/CS so much better than the 'how much will it be worth in 18 months' type threads.
Most special(e) moment of 2017: after dithering about renting a box trailer to tow behind my motorhome to drive 300 miles to Goodwood for a track day and thinking sod it! drive the Speciale there & back and have a hoot! So that's what I did, and it was a true moment of magickfulness when I drove the perfect line through St Marys just as a Spitfire took off above me! So, 300 miles to GW, 295 miles on track (!), and 300 miles home = 900 miles of ear-to-ear grin! Another Speciale turned up and sat in the paddock all day without turning a wheel. What a waste!
Two years, nearly 10,000 miles, and no regrets!!
