Placed my order and paid my deposit for a 488 spider last week, delivery early 2019. Ferrari today announce a 7%, £14k price increase.
What stops a similar increase next year?!

Nothing: the small print on the standard order form for all makes says something like list price at the time of delivery

Think they must do as Ferrari Leeds quoted me delivery middle of next year. Sticking with a Perf though.

Same here, my car was 182 + 46 options, £228k and that has now increased to more than £240k. It's interesting that the options prices have not changed (so far), sounds like Ferrari have a consicence - they knew they were taking the p**s with their options prices and have resisted the temptation to increase them.

Not sure what to do TBH. I know it's small in the scheme of things but I'm going to look at trimming the options; right now, i'm struggling to feel the love of nearly £20k of carbon fibre inside and out.

Ferrari will have had a hedge to cushion the depreciation of pound v euro.Suspect that hedge runs out Jan 2018 !!

It's a global increase, so the £/€ is not the primary driver.

We are not talking a small sum of money here = £12-15k.

I know it says on the order 'Price will be list price at time of delivery' and 'Deposit is non-transferable and non-refundable' but....

the T&Cs stipulate you have 14 days to cancel once the notification has been given.

Driven the 570s and 650s. Neither compare in my mind - appreicate the carbon tub etc but I’ll never experience the difference there! The simplicity / common sense of driving the Ferrari - pulling both paddles to engage neutral, pulling one to put it in manual mode, changing the mode - one dial not two in the McLaren.... all favours the Ferrari. And it’s a Ferrari who use Ferrari engines in their F1 cars, not Honda or Renualt.
Await barrage of McLaren enthusiasts.... 😉

I beg to differ but appreciate its subjective and a matter of personal opinion.

I picked up a brand new pre registered heavily optioned 488 back in February, after 4 months and 3.5k miles I decided that I was putting too many miles on it and needed another daily so picked up a 570s.

In my opinion the 570s was better in everyway bar speed - on a drag the 488 was about half a car length quicker however sorted by a remap - and this is a comparison against the near entry level McLaren and not the direct comparison ala 720s which apart from its subjective looks blows the door off the 488 in every single way.

Anyway after three weeks of 570s ownership and not even a desire to look at the 488 let alone drive it I subsequently disposed of it and sold it back to the supplying dealer.

I'm not saying the 488 was a bad car, I'm just in favour of the 570 and on paper it is the better car for less money. It even gets more attention if that's possible - people look at the 488 like your just another pompous fkwit drivkng a red Ferrari where as the McLaren is really admired and appreciated.

You were lucky that you preferred the 570 over the 488, as the McLaren dealer wouldn’t be at all interested in taking the 570 back..
