Shields can't just be added later as they use different wings, so think hard before deleting them imo. Hate to say it but even if you aren't a huge fan of them yourself they are as "essential" as it gets option wise from a resale perspective.

Don't be fooled into the £2600 for the passenger display either - mine had this and people still used to look at the main speedo to see how fast you were traveling.
I have the passenger display in my F12. All it results in is this (Autobahn, July, 2017):

Mrs Leg - slow down
Leg - Why?
Mrs Leg - you're going too fast
Leg - No I'm not
Mrs Leg - yes you are, I can see it on this screen
Leg - (mumbling) stupid screen

She's 5'2" and I have bucket seats. I don't think she can see the main speedo. Stupid bl00dy screen.

Lol this is brilliant.

To be fair I don't even bother taking mine in any of my super cars anymore, she's 34 going on 64 and whines at absolutely everything - as they do.

I had this issue with my wife. The key is to slowly build up her tolerance. That or tell her the speedo is in KPH.

Back on topic, I've been considering ordering a 488 Spider for a while but I keep putting it off and the price rise hasn't helped. I don't think it's a compelling enough package and I don't think a car in this segment should have scuttle shake, regardless of its construction. I think I'm going to hold on for the alfresco incarnation of the 720s.

Dare I say you don't get scuttle shake in a carbon tub car ala McLaren whistle

I bought the F12 purely, and I kid you not, because she:

Wouldn't get in the 997.2 GT3RS (white, red wheels, red cage, red decals) because it's 'chavvy'
Wouldn't let me take the roof down in the 458 Spider because it 'messes her hair up'
Wouldn't go in the Speciale (white, blue stripes, gold wheels) because it also is 'chavvy'

and she wanted to go on European trips in my 981 Boxster S (agate grey, black roof) which is my winter DD and whilst it's a great car I'm a huge fan of Italy and touring Italy in a Porsche just isn't the same.

A week after I got the F12 we went out in it and as we pulled out of the village she uttered the immortal words, "Don't be taking the roof off, it's too cold" because she thought we were in the bloody 458 Spider (they're both red). My response echoed John McEnroe at his very best.

How we are married (24 years) I have no f*cking idea. Worse still, my 20 year old son and my 17 year old son have no interest in cars or motorsport. What the actual f*ck is that all about?

I am, alone. Isolated in a house full of non believers. Thank f*ck for PH.

That's a superb post! Especially the F12 story smile

Not the same, but it reminds me of an episode with my best mate who, let's just say, has never shared my love of cars and actually thinks they're a waste of money. When I had my 550 Maranello he bought a new Peugeot 406 Coupe and came round to show me. He was very chuffed, fair enough. But he then said "I bet if you were blindfolded you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between my car and your Ferrari". Quite apart from the consequences of driving blindfolded (let's not go there!) it was a moment that could have ended our friendship. 10 years on, I've just about forgiven him. smile

One of my friends who is a petrolhead has a neighbor to whom cars are just transport. In an epic, fully committed way. When asked what kind of car he had, he couldn't remember. Some kind of saloon was as good as it got. He couldn't remember what brand it was.

You have to respect that level of non petrolheadness. At least it is more worthy of respect than someone who sticks an M badge on the back of some sad BMW 2.0 diesel white goods effort and uses the word "sporty" when speaking about it.

Edit: Actually no Mrs. Leg wins smile.

I had one, a 3.0 V6, my second company car (after a green Vectra 1.8) and you can, completely. It's 406 saloon in a dress. But, it has Pininfarina on the side and if I'm honest, I thought it was the dog's bks at the time (2000 ish).

I once parked it on my (decently sloped) drive at the old house, pushed my (then) Westfield out to do some work on it, pushed the Westy too far and it rolled down the drive (in that "oh for f*cks sake slow motion way these things unfold in) into the 406 destroying the rear bumper with the leading edge of the fibreglass nose. Explaining to my then boss (subsequently business partner) that I had managed to hit my company car with my car on my drive and I wasn't driving any of them at the time was hard work, mainly because he was shouting and swearing at me at the time.

Sorry, off topic. Maybe a thread for "daft stories of cars gone by" or "my wife just doesn't get it" is in order? Or has it been done? Sounds like a thread that would have been done.

I have capristo valved system, used this with their remote and it brought up engine management light as the car was under boosting, had to go back to stock wiring so the valves open as per factory settings, sounds better than standard but not a huge difference as say what you would get in a 458. Cameras are good, if you have front and rear sensors then not really necessary, the only thing i'd add is that the rear camera helps you keep the rear diffusor away from kerbs when reversing into a space.
