And the chances of getting one for most people are probably on par if not less than a Porsche GT car.... wink

Is it going to be a limited edition? If not they will probably sell to most people who turn up with cash ultimately. I'd say the Ferrari insiders, those of the special handshake and all that, will definitely get first option though.

Sounds like a £250k starting price though. It needs to be seriously better than the 720S for that kind of money.

Not a true comparison to a standard road based 720S as its a light weight track version. That will have to wait until the 750 LT is launched

It doesn't have to be better - its a "limited edition" Ferrari and it will sell out, and make everyone (Ferrari and original owners) lots of money.

Never you mind

It is, apparently, not an LE model. That will be the spider which was the same as 458 before it.

Yawn who cares about who it makes money for

And I doubt it will be a limited edition, non of its predecessors were - all of which were below list at some point (in case of the Speciale very briefly I give you)

Only limited to how many ferrari can build which is 1 less than demand.
It will be a regular production car in a given time frame similar to the Huracan Performante.
Lambo deakers are telling me they already have more orders than they can build in the 2 yr priduction run so I'm sure the Ferrari will be the same

Not Limited Edition but will be allocated on basis of criteria set by Ferrari NE at some point in the future.Probably existing 488 and/or Speciale ownership.
Should be launched at Geneva 2018 but may slip to Paris 2018.
One of the larger Ferrari dealers told me that they already have enough interest to sell 100.
GTO name not confirmed and unlikely IMHO.

I enquired about one of these earlier in the year..

Unless you have invested in a brand new 488 and a brand new 488 Spyder I was informed you will not be getting one - whether there is any truth in this i'm not sure however, as i didn't follow through with the spyder after taking a massive hit on the coupe I will let you know if the dealer takes my money when its officially released.

I was told the same thing when I did my atelier for my 488. I am still going to ask the question when I pick the car up though.

I was told if you take out Ferrari finance it also helps your case. Something I am not keen on doing to be honest.

One of the groups eligible for 488VS purchase MIGHT be new Speciale buyers who still have their cars.
Ferrari NE have not decided on criteria.

I make you right - I still kick myself now by turning down an offer to buy one and spec from new but an impending house purchase prevented me from doing so.

At that time all I had purchased from them was a used 458 coupe and spyder.

My logic with most of these "specials" that manufacturers produce is with what you have to lose in depreciation on cars you have to buy to build relationships and get offered one in the first place - you may as well just skip all of that and pay overs anyway, you probably won't be too far out.

Agreed. And zero reason for them to use the GTO name. They will keep that safe for another rainy day like the 2010 immediate post crash launch of the 599 GTO.

They can call the 488 VS anything and it will sell hugely well (assuming they nail it versus the opposition which they will). It's why it is running a little late. The 488 VS will not disappoint.

Yeah that looks mean like a GT racer but you just know its going to get watered down a lot from that. Lose the bonnet vents and rear wing, add a stripe and some gold wheels to standard car, lose some weight add a small bit of power and that wiil be it.
they are not going to radically change a winning recipe and less is more for their pockets
