430 Scuderia or 458 Speciale?
Discussion
Bit biased here but my two-penneth worth...

Personally would love to roll a CS next to my Scud one day. Love the Speciale, looks amazing, goes like stink - but a tad too refined for my liking. No doubt an all time classic though and dont see the price bubble bursting, prices should flex as miles get put on but that is about it IMO
Guess no matter which you choose you'll have a level of engagement, pedigree and theatre not offered by any other marque. They're all amazing cars.

Got the same decision to make next year. Scud or Speciale. I'm leaning towards the scud. Looks bit more raw, sounds epic and there is something about it that I can't quite but my finger that just makes me want one more than the 458. Think the wife is leaning more towards the 458 though.
Finding a good RHD scud, that's not been a garage queen, FFSH, in the right colour and spec is kind of hard.

I may soon be in the market for a LHD Scud. What are seen as the must have options. Light up steering wheel, stripes, large bucket seats anything else. Also does the market put a big price difference on say red over black?
just bucket seats / steering wheel mainlyred/black won't make too much difference with a LHD scud
imo the prices of the examples for sale in the country atm are pretty good value, not even economical to import one

Must haves imo: Factory stripe, harnesses, led wheel, factory roll bar. Fortunately all Scuds come decked out in loads of carbon apart from optional rear diffuse and front. I haven't seen any real difference in price between black and red. Red seems more common though. A factory stripe does seem to make a huge difference on price though, at least £10k difference on like for like car with/without factory stripe.Have driven all three mentioned here and owned a Scud for two years... my 2 penneth...
CS - Sound is epic and it looks so good inside and out but for me the biggest issue was the gearbox - the shift from 1st to 2nd is comical if you drive them back to back - it takes an AGE.
Scud - Loved the car and with the Capristo exhaust the sound was nearly as good as the CS. Gearbox was brilliant - not as fast as the Speciale of course but it gave the car a little more drama. Only negative IMO was the look of the car - it was less "pretty" than the CS (although the CS front lights weren't good) and less purposeful than the Speciale (458 is a stunning car in any form)
Speciale - doesn't sound as epic as the first two but by jove its quick - and also the most easily capable. It's also the car that's easiest to drive around normally - which cannot be underestimated as it gives the car a much broader skillset and appeal.
Our car appeared in a few YouTube video's in our ownership - attached below...

All three cars are awesome and as has been mentioned its about finding the one that's most perfect for you as they definitely have different characteristics and positives.

Very useful videos thank you, I am torn between F430 or adding cash and getting a 430 Scud anyone driven both , I do not track cars so only road use.
For me it would be between a manual F430 and a Scuderia. The manual F430 is nice, and enjoyable to drive whereas I don't think much of F1 - it's not good enough for a car of this class. Handling wise there's not a significant difference between the Scuderia and a CCB equipped F430 with optional (lighter) wheels, but the Superfast F1 in the Scuderia is leagues ahead of the normal F1 - even the MY08 system. Despite the statistics, the Scuderia is significantly quicker than the F430 and also feels a lot more special place to be, though a well optioned F430 does get close.
For the price difference between a manual F430 and a 430 Scuderia I would go Scuderia all day long.
The F1 superfast II gearbox is the best I have driven for this type of track car, fast and engaging.
TBH I think the standard F1 gearbox is pretty good and better than e-gear and manual.
The current fad with manuals will die out just like fashion when all the old middle aged farts who remiss over manual gearboxes they drove in their twenties, are too old to drive a supercar anymore and the younger new generation with money want paddle shift.
Cant go wrong with a 430 Scuderia and will hold its money long term so its only the initial capital outlay which you would be better off borrowing if its outside your budget

The brief was road car and no track work. I've had all three types of gearbox on this platform and the manual is hard to beat for road work. The F1 superfast II gearbox is the best I have driven for this type of track car, fast and engaging.

Manual cars will always have a market.

Erm, not sure I can agree with that last comment, certainly in terms of engagement and theatre...or pedigree to be honest. Gassing Station | Ferrari V8 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
