Yes and very aggressive!
Yeah similar story here even though I have just bought a new 488. Dealer gave me a list of things that would get me up the list of people who get to buy them, its easier (and probably cheaper) just to pay a premium to get one on the 2nd hand market.. It's a bit ridiculous because I bet a lot get flipped for a big profit by people on "the list". Still this is the way Ferrari do business and it obviously works for them.adamjsmith said:
Looks fantastic. Shame my dealer told me I have no chance of getting one, despite owning 4 Ferraris and having an 812 on order.
Regarding flipped cars, it's going to happen but things are much better policed than ever before largely due to social media and Insta in particular. I know one guy who had a certain large indie post his brand new Speciale Aperta for sale shortly after delivery. Ferrari saw it within 24 hours and made the dealer call the owner. He said it was a freak accident, he never told the indie it was for sale. The dealer had to go check his home weeks later to check the car was still in his garage.
Net, you flip now in the full knowledge it's your last special (unless you're a AAA list celeb I guess)

I’m not a lawyer ,but could it not be illegal on grounds of discrimination for a company to choose who gets to buy their products? Or on the grounds of deliberately creating an artificial imbalance in a market by setting prices too low?
Could a government not argue that it is being cheated of VAT because the cars are sold artificially too low? For example it is illegal to undersell a property to lower stamp duty, lower capital gains or avoid inheritance tax. Isn’t this the same thing but in a different guise?
Is anyone aware of a test case?
I think you'd struggle to argue that it's discrimination for them not to sell you a car, outwith actual protected things like race, gender, etc.Could a government not argue that it is being cheated of VAT because the cars are sold artificially too low? Likewise I don't know how you would convince a court that Ferrari selling a car for what is going to be at least £250k base is "artificially too low", in relative terms. The market is what it is - for a period of time Speciales were selling for their normal price. Ferrari can't be held accountable for the ebbs and flows of a free market imo, no more than they can be blamed for prices collapsing, should that happen.

458 Speciale and 812 on order were sourced from the dealer in question, the others are classics and were not.
Wow, that's harsh.Edited by Durzel on Tuesday 20th February 16:29
I guess you can flip if you do it though the said dealer?
I was told by a main dealer that one of their clients ordered a speciale, He paid but didn't pick it up from the dealer for a couple of months. He then offered it back to them for sale. Apparently they paid him a premium and then resold it again within weeks.
As for the Pista, first reactions is I don't really like it. Especially the nose. Maybe without the stripe going down the hole it may look a little better, The rear is nice but does remind me a bit of a Mclaren.

This happens more often than they let on unfortunately...I was told by a main dealer that one of their clients ordered a speciale, He paid but didn't pick it up from the dealer and offered it back to them for sale. Apparently they paid him a premium and then resold it again within weeks.

If owning 4 Ferraris with a 812 on order doesn't get you on the list....
If you don't mind me asking - were those 4 Ferraris main dealer sourced? IME Ferrari treat main dealer cars/customers different to private/indie sourced ones...

And I thought us Porsche owners had it bad...
Styling of the 488 Pasta looks okay.
If they can get it to sound like the recent 488 Novitec N-Largo (3:55mins), they will be in good shape.

Sounds odd, My dealer wouldn't accept anything until they confirmed me a Pista allocation, which happily they did.
Congratulations on your allocation. Will you be donating the car along with the rest of your garage to rectify your belief that “inequality is growing and is unacceptable”? I was just reading another another thread and noticed that quote from you and just enjoyed the irony. I am genuinely happy for you but fundamentally disagree that inequality is unacceptable. Supercars wouldn’t exist without it. Equal opportunity , not outcome. Enjoy your garage but especially big winners In life shouldn’t virtue signal. It grates.

+ 1 - (minus the 812 on order, and only owning 1 Ferrari )I can't be bothered trying any more. I had the same treatment from Porsche over their GT cars and I have 2 porkers including a GT3RS. I can't be bothered with the silly games.
Instead I'm lusting after a 2007 XJR Portfolio in the PH classifieds. The deal is, if I want it, I give the dealer cash, and you won't believe this, he sells me the car. Wtf!?!?
