Sounds like it was a cat B vehicle with stolen parts used to put it back on the road.

There is a thread in General.

He owns a Tyre garage, appears to have a string of offences against him and lives in a dodgy part of Birmingham.

I have a friend who is an insurance fraud engineer, he says the industry is constantly faced with individuals buying salvage then holding it for six months having insured it to then park it in a ditch and make a claim for repairs. Effectively they get the insurer to put the salvage they bought back on the road. So effectively they buy a 30-50k piece of salvage and get it rebuilt for nowt. Generally they also are found to be involved with the repairer or are the repairer. Insurance companies can’t force you to use their own repairers, they can only take away certain benefits if you insist going elsewhere, such as a loan car!The only downfall is when asked for the receipts for all the parts they generally can’t provide them, what a surprise! I’m sure the police double triple checked all the details before squashing the car! Even a cat car will still have a value well above what it cost to put back on the road using this method!

So if it was, and it needs removing from the road, then why not strip it of valuable bits before crushing it? Surely the engine alone could net them a fortune?

You mean strip and sell the valuable nicked bits.

I would bet my house that 458 had more bent parts than legit on it.

Anyway I am sure Plod delighted in the scrotests little facial expression hehe when 'his' wonderfully cherished p and j was crushed.

Well done Plod.

Would it have been emptied of fuel, I would have thought it would have gone up in smoke?

Expect to see a white 458 to turn up for sale at a certain Keighley based dealership. 1 careful owner, low mileage.
