Hi Guys
I assume this must be covered somewhere but the answers seem to be conflicting... Has anybody successfully got on the Eurotunnel trains in a 355? The 2 issues are width and ground clearance I guess. Width seems like its fine (Channel tunnel website says 2.55m max width, a 355 is 1.9m wide so that is fine) - although someone on here has said his 355 was too wide? Also how is the ground clearance/ramp situation going on? Do you have to approach it from an angle?

355 is easy even in the regular carriage, it's not wide by modern standards. But as always, book the extra height van/lorry section and you'll have all the room you could ever want.

Done it many times in the past.
Width is fine but I always followed the HGV/Trailer queue and asked if I can go in those carriages as its more roomy. Many times they had no problem allowing me but others they directed me to the car queue.
If they don't let you, just try to not to let them put you on the upstairs floor ( you can let the others through and wait until they open the next section downstairs). Mine has the fiorano pack which is lower than standard and i could not get up without scraping. I am not sure but i suspect you may have the same problem if you go up.

I had no problems when I took my spider on for a Euro trip and that was with nose heavy with luggage compartment full. Goes without saying but just have to drive on carefully and slowly and a slight angle will help.

I was deep in the boarding queue in my 360 a few weeks ago and was specifically directed another way to join the large vehicle carriages. Had this before in my 348 too. The Eurotunnel staff tend to look out for you, so no need to stress.

Last time I travelled on the Shuttle in the 355 (in a standard carriage), I was told to book as a car with a top box in future.

Have been on standard and wide carriage in the past, both no problem

Just back from 10 days in the south of France. Took the FFRR, booked in the lorry/van bit but missed our crossing at 9.50pm, next crossing available was 5.5am the following morning, no fun with 2 kids and a dog in tow. The solution, lower the suspension and go in the standard car bit. Was tight both height and width but no issue. You'll have no issue with a low nose getting on or off.

Had my 360 on the narrow train and gubbed one wheel on the narrow turn in to board the train. believe me they are wide enough to be very difficult. Not worth the stress so made sure with the f430 to go on the wider truck carriage

They will push you into the lower deck - much wider. If not, ask.
