As the title really, I am giving some serious thought to upgrading my 360 Spider which is currently on here for sale to a California.
Am I mad, I know the Cali will depreciate whereas the 360 probably won’t, but I can get a quite late date Cali for not much more than the 360, I could possibly go to a Cali T there is a nice one at Meridian Modena with plenty of warranty.
I cannot afford both ,there’s something about the California which is attracting me, I would value any thoughts, many thanks Mike

I've had a similar thought - chop the £60-65k spider in for a 7 year newer Cali for circa £30k. Seems worthwhile. However, the Cali will be £65k in the next 5 years whereas the 360 can't depreciate much more - surely? The Cali isn't universally loved but I like it and each to their own etc especially if you can spring to a Cali T.

I decided to stick with the 360 on the basis I hardly drive it and whilst I don't mind a fairly non-depreciating asset in the garage gathering dust, I couldn't stomach losing £6-8k per year on a car I didn't use much.......

These are exactly my thoughts, I could spring to a T, something about a newer more refined and warranted car appeals strongly.
I know the Cali is a sort of love hate car and that’s one of the reasons I’d like others inputs, I think I might use the Cali more than the 360.

I've had a 360 Spider and F430 Spider (bad experience...) and had a 3 year break whilst gathering finances. I've now bought a California 30, one of the last ones before the T (see what other 'last' normally aspirated cars are doing were my thoughts). Well, what can I say except its all I thought it would be, quicker than the F430, much better gearbox, comfy, great handling, solid roof when you need a bit more security, small sprogs in the back and all together (for me) a good progression. Lots like it, lots don't - I do and that's all that matters!

Newer more useable car but as above I would go for the last of the N/a cali 30's rather than the cali T

I would assume the Cali will have all the refinement improvements you get with newer cars over the 360 so your usage of the car should probably be considered as part of your decision e.g. I would expect the Cali to be a much better daily driver or frequent driver than the 360.

Whilst most would agree the Cali will depreciate, I wouldn't count on the 360 not to depreciate over the coming years, as if I recall the 360 were around £40k at one point!

Some 360's are still £40k! However a good 360 F1 will sit at its currently value for a long time. I think smart non F1 cars will hit £100k and stay over that for years - if not indefinitely. Remember only 352 RHD Manual 360's produced!

Not really - there is one on PH for ~£45k and that's LHD with over 70k miles on it. Realistically, you are not likely to find many 360s for £40k these days and certainly not one you're likely to buy.

Not convinced the manuals will top £100k, but who knows. I don't really understand why they've gone up so much in the first place.

Looking at trend, price inflation etc I can’t see a decent one ever being less than 65k

Sentimental reasons from the current generation with the money to purchase. Future generations and the "new money" will have far less fascination over a manual as most of them would of never driven one in todays world of DCT's etc..
Prices should stay firm in the short term but not necessarily over £100k in the long term IMHO

I should have been more clear. You can still get very scruffy ones for £40k!

Manual sub 30k miles cars are already breaking into the £100k!

I have my doubts that many of them are selling at that price.

I can vouch that they are not, I think mine is reasonably priced and I would probably accept less for it, so realistically 360 manuals over 70/75/80k in excellent condition with good provenance probably are not worth the asking prices, maybe the California’s are also the same. Mike

Good luck with it. It's a lovely looking car from the advert.

California prices have been pretty solid for the last 6 Years with pretty glacial depreciation. They're a very desirable car and drive superbly, can't see prices reducing any quicker than 360's

I'd echo comments and go for a series 1 over a T

Out of interest what is the logic for choosing an earlier car - the T has the best bum with the horizontal exhausts !

It does that's true and I think the T looks better at the front too but I found the lack of rev band and power delivery out of character, it's also (or at least the one I had for 3 days) very very quiet

With so many 360 manuals available ( 55 advertised on here alone ) I think £100k for nothing but the best low mileage car is very optimistic thinking.
Didn't realise they were so common. I guess F1 gearbox was still fairly early technology and TBH at the time I would of still chosen a manual gearbox over F1.
By F430 the F1 was a lot better and became the more popular choice so a manual F430 will always be more sought after as the rarer and last manual V8 Ferrari ( even then there are 34 of them starting at £80k )

There isn't 55 RHD Manuals for sale on here. Just a quick glance alone would tell you many are listed incorrectly and have f1 g/box or are LHD, marked as sold or even the same car re-advertised.

Truth be told a clean sub 30k miles RHD Manual 360 Modena with a FSH and in the correct colour (red IMHO) is getting increasingly harder to find.

In RHD 352 Manual Modena's were produced verses 702 F1's.

Well, I guess even the youngest are about 14 years old now so low mileage ones are always going to get harder to find.

Even so, I wouldn't have one for £100k+.
