Hi all, my F430 battery is about 3 years old, (Bosh 5 yr warrantee) I have it on official Ferrari (ctek) trickle charger in garage but got side tracked a few weeks ago and didn't switch it on at the socket silly I know, now noticed that battery is totally flat even switching charge back on don't think its going to charge it back from flat.

is it advisable to jump start from another car, or even a spare battery? or buy a heavy duty battery charger?
any suggestions.

Has this happen to mine. Don’t jump it. You might find a battery tender than can recharge or bite the bullet and get a new battery. Ask Aldous at AV engineering for a recommendation or whomever looks after your car.

A new battery isn't expensive, you know it'll fix the problem and you don't risk frying any expensive electronic bits.

The Ferrari battery chargers won't charge a completely flat battery because they have to recognise that a battery is connected in order to work. If you get a bog standard trickle charger (Halfords - about £25) and connect it to the battery, if the battery hasn't died, it will put some charge in it and then you can let the Ferrari charger do the rest (I had exactly this problem with my 599 when I forgot to connect the charger). Or, as suggested, get a new battery.

They can be jump started at a push as can any car.
Isolate the battery and connect jump leads to a running car for 10-15 mins.
Disconnect leads and reconnect battery and should fire up.
Isolating the battery first mean you won’t spike any of the sensitive electronics when connecting the jump leads.
Not ideal but will get it going if needs be.

Don't buy one, use the warranty to get it replaced! smile

You really don't need a new battery. If its just been a few weeks it should come back just fine. Just slow charge it for 2 days. Then connect the ctek and let it condition the battery for another few days. Most batteries will recover after months not weeks.
