I thought you replied to ANOpax -
"... you’ve [ANOpax] added nothing but unpleasantness, fuelled by a sense of importance presumably derived from owning the stupidest car Ferrari have ever made"
my bad ?

Thanks JS - not sure the rudeness was required, just trying to understand what I though you had said :

He's probably referring to the Ferrari FF listed in ANOpax's garage. He could have just said that, but presumably thought just calling you a chump was more effective.I thought you replied to ANOpax -

Sorry for any offence caused with the word ‘chump’, there should be no safe haven on the internet for such vile profanity, it cheapens the debate and lowers the tone. I hope you get over it soon. I thought you replied to ANOpax -

OP asked about experiences from owners of a Cali. I had contributed as I had recently been at an indi garage, having my Maserati repaired where they were rebuilding the engine of a Cali and I had a long conversation with the garage's owner at the time about what the rebuild involved, the cause of the issue and the cost vs the cost of a new replacement (which is how Ferarri main dealer had proposed fixing the car). I shared some of this info, which I felt was relevant as it gives an idea of the rebuild / replacement cost of a Cali engine, and the fact that they can fail (as all engines can I guess) to a prospective new purchaser.
ANOpax then joined this discussion simply to criticise posters, including myself, who had contributed to the thread despite not owning an Cali. Despite it being part of the OP's opening post that he was asking owners about running costs, I felt that my experience was worth sharing and appologise profusely if it were not.
I found this intervention a little off as it is an open forum and I felt my contribution was relevant, and even if not, what is the harm, I was hardly advising the OP to try a new Mondeo instead. I also found it hypocritical that ANOrax made this comment as, upon inspecting his garage, whilst he has indeed owned 2 Ferraris, he also has not owned a Cali.
I made this point and from memory he then challenged my entire right to post on the supercars part of Pistonheads, presumably as I only own a R8 which many on here consider not to be a supercar, a view which I have some sympathy with incidentally. However, my car really is irrelevant as this is a public forum that anyone can join and post on
Anyway, there was a bit of to and fro, from memory I was bored at a work event during some of it, and as a retort against the hypocrisy, the denigration of my beloved car, and the arrogance of challenging my right to post on any supercar topic, I made some childish comments referring to his FF and comparing its looks to those of a BMW hatch back, and also calling it a stupid car, which, having seen one today in my local station car park, having not seen one for a few years, were slightly unfair and which I partially withdraw. It was childish but as you say, it is Pistonheads and I felt the guy had been mildly out of order so that's what informed my subequent attitude towards him I am certain he is a very nice man and bear him no ill will.
Anyway, I do hope this goes some way to clear the matter up and explain the comment that you didn't understand, and if you do have any further questions, feedback, or contribution to make, please do not hesitate
Thanks

Horses for courses.
The FF is great for covering long distances in comfort and style with a supreme level of handling. However, there is no disguising its weight and size so it loses out where smaller and more nimble cars will win. That all changes when conditions get wet or slippery - something you’ll be aware of with your Porsche experience. The 4WD traction means it will keep up with their engine V8s in those conditions. It’s an everyday useable Ferrari.
The Cali is also an everyday useable Ferrari - but its strength is that its looks aren’t as polarising. It may not as powerful, quick, aurally pleasing or versatile (in terms of space) as the FF but its trump card is the roof and the luggage space compared to the mid engine V8s.

You’ve owned a Cali now then? The FF is great for covering long distances in comfort and style with a supreme level of handling.
