My first Ferrari - what are the must-have options?

Can't understand the obsession with spec'ing shields on regular production Ferraris. Anyone who understands the history of the marque know that these should be reserved for the racing cars, or at a push, the race inspired specials / Ltd Editions
You’ve just explained the understanding...the shields look f*(kin& cool, and as options go, not too expensive, hence they are pretty much “must have”. For me shields and carbon seats are a must. I would put as much carbon on the inside as I could afford as I think it makes the interior look nicer. I like it on the exterior too, but not as important imo.
I think wrapping the roof is a better idea than the factory painted one (mainly because I really dislike the two tone look and if I ever bought it I could remove the wrap).

Out of interest you ever spec'd a new Ferrari?Chris355 said:

Agree 100% with this.Yellow wing shields, carbon seats and all the other carbon bits are absolute 'must haves' on any mid engine Ferrari if you factor in resale..I think wrapping the roof is a better idea than the factory painted one (mainly because I really dislike the two tone look and if I ever bought it I could remove the wrap).
My GS 458 has the factory painted gloss Black roof which is my strong preference however it was a very expensive option when new, circa £5k IIRC.
Forged diamond alloys are another 'must have' as the cast ones are very heavy and don't look good IMO.
Red is always safe and if it’s your first Ferrari, why not? I think, when spec’ing it it’s massively important to know how you plan to use it and how long you plan to keep it. I tend to put loads of stuff on my cars and would take a massive bath if I tried to sell them on quickly, but I don’t - I keep them for ages and they are spec’ed for what I want, not for resale. So in terms of seeking views as to what you should put on the F8, let us all know how long you think you will keep it and what use you have in mind - track days/ touring etc and see what suggestions you get.

As much as you may think they should only be for certain models (and you may be right) try shifting one without them. Very very hard. In a dream world maybe you wouldn’t order them but in reality I suspect you would feel you have to.
Its virtually impossible to sell any Ferrari without the yellow shields..I've seen a couple for sale recently and its a glaring omission IMOkith said:

Is it the Ferarri equivalent of an 'M' badge on a 118d then?ANOpax said:

Nah, it’s even worse than that. It’s the Ferrari equivalent of Quattro badges on an Audi. ANOpax said:

Nothing like an M/badge on a 118d ....... Ferrari puts it on their price-list, so they are 100% endorsing the practise.
Personally, I don't like the shields that much. Painted they are better, but some huge, I'm presuming enamelled, affair is a bit much.

Audi puts the Quattro badge on the car without you having to pay £100’s extra for it, just sayin’ Nothing like an M/badge on a 118d ....... Ferrari puts it on their price-list, so they are 100% endorsing the practise.

Sorry?! Is that a typo or am I misunderstanding what you mean
I hope not!“touché
/tu???e?/
exclamation
1.
used as an acknowledgement during a discussion of a good or clever point made at one's expense by another person.
"‘You haven't contributed much, this evening.’ ‘How could I have?’ ‘Touché. I do go on.’"
2.
(in fencing) used as an acknowledgement of a hit by one's opponent.”
I believe the first explanation is derived from the first - as in: you landed a point at my expense.
So - any word from the OP on which way he’s leaning?
