I've been following this thread with interest and yesterday I had the chance to have a good look at your engine and box, along with your lovely car at AV when I dropped our 360 off for its service and a few bits.

As a fellow owner it's really interesting to see the innards of the heart of the car, also to know your car's in safe hands. I bet you can't wait to get it back smile
Thank you, that’s kind of you to say. From the recent AV photos it definitely looks like they’re doing a tremendous job leaving no stone unturned. I must make a trip down to see the guys soon.
Its been odd not having the car around after 17 years of companionship and I’m looking forward to getting her back and parking her up next to her Granturismo half sister spin

More updates from AV.
The oil tank black crackle paint had flaked, and tbh it needed some tlc. I had been meaning to ask Aldous if we could repaint it but hadn't got round to it.
I needen't have worried.. before I could point it out I received this photo!

What attention to detail.

The engine and rear bumper heat shields had taken a battering over the past 20 years as can been seen below. Once again, and before I could ask, the team at AV had already set out refurbishing them..

The engine has now made its way down from the first floor engine room to the workshop, ready to be slotted back in.

In case anyone is wondering, the paint on the car is still the original Maranello paint job (apart from the front bumper which has been resprayed a couple of times)

This then brings us full circle - note the exposed crank and the correct rear main seal ready to be fitted!

...and now fitted!

Stumbled across this thread, and wow, really interesting stuff.

What a pleasure to read, and great to hear of an owner enjoying a supercar for 100k + miles !!

Loving this.

I think you should print a hard copy booklet with all the photos and all the commentaries of the whole journey to go with the car. It would be a really nice accessory complimenting your wonderful Ferrari.

That’s an excellent idea.
AV Engineering are actually making a full report documenting the engine build but I guess it would be nice to do my own with photos as per my thread here.
Thank you for the suggestionthumbup

Yes I would, definitely. It can't be that expensive to go to a proper printer do a couple of copies of a hard back booklet - a couple of hundred quid max? Dare I say it is a small percentage of the bill for this journey. It just takes time to edit it and put it together. It would be a shame not to record it properly in a nice artistic way. So you can pass this book to whoever the next owner of the car - be it your family/friend or the future buyer. It also shows you are a careful and a sentimental owner despite the relative high mileage for a Ferrari.

I actually would love to read it. Perhaps you can even publish it onto the Ferrari Owner Club magazine with an exclusive issue. What a great story!!

Thank you for sharing!! Please do keep us posted to the day you take the car out for a proper blast.

Great thread, and very interesting. Was reading Voicey's blog website just yesterday. Really fancy getting back in a 360 but add some CS bits to it this time. Fond memories of my 360, it was always an exciting car to drive, always an event, which cannot be said for modern day cars.

Fantastic thread...awesome..thank you for sharing... . We just need to get the message through to Ferrari spares dept : get your prices down to more reasonable and the brand will be admired a lot more ! £6500 for a spare crankshaft, no, £2000 is plenty....😀

I remember when parts prices jumped 35% in 2007. Speculation at the time was that it was to fund Kimi Raikkonen's huge contract that year.

Thankfully I didn’t need a crankshaft in the end thanks to AV and Hill Engineering thumbup

I received the latest AV update last night at 9 PM. Looks like the boys at AV Engineering are working long hours!
New flywheel is in, new clutch and new 6 bolt ring gear. My car still had the old 3 bolt ring gear which was updated in 2001/2002 as they were prone to failing and subsequently chewing everything up inside the bell housing and gearbox housing.. another lucky escape given the mileage! I’ve had several new clutches but nobody replaced the outdated ring gear assembly..
