I’ve started to notice a new generation of chavs have moved on from their battered 3 door Astra’s onto bigger and better things. Such vehicles of choice being the Ford Ranger or Nissan Navara to prove the size of manhood to their Chantel’s and Vicki’s.

Am I stereotyping or are WhatCar publishing Chav editions which kept on the top shelves of newsagents, next to the naughty mags?

I know 4 people with pick ups.
3 are trades using them as working & weekend vehicles and pretty regular decent guys.
The other was an old neighbour who used his just for private because ‘it’s wicked mate’. I wouldn’t necessarily call him a chav though, more of a tattooed simpleton.

Animal, Warrior or Barbarian?

Any of these might be the weapon of choice among amateur cage fighters or steroidally enhanced bodybuilders with serious anger management issues who spend way too long hanging around the showers after a gym workout here in the Essex Badlands

Vehicle of choice for driving like an aggressive tt.
Very popular on traveler sites, the more bling the better.
Cheap to buy if you can put it through your business.

Does that depend which one you buy?

Pick up trucks are awesome.

Would defo have one if I could seriously justify one to myself, which I can’t 😂

Yes.

To be classed as Dual Purpose rather than Commercial it primarily needs to be:

less than 2,040 kg unladen weight
be capable of transferring power to all four wheels
be able to carry passengers

All the current Double Cab Ford Rangers are overweight and many of the Supercab variants are too

With other manufacturers, the unladen weight is likely to be the problem.

I run an older, Supercab Ford Ranger and that weighs in around 1,800 kg

3 categories of Pick up truck driver round my way (rural Somerset).

Multi millionaires who own half the hills and have zero interest in cars who use them on their land. Never washed.

Trades and farmers. Washed once a month if they need it or not.

Sad tattooed s.

This isn't a new thing. I read almost the same thread on here 10 years ago. Pickups are cool, I really want one but cannot justify it. I'm not a chav.

Third picture down: All the Double Cabs are overweight and most of the Supercab.

All Single Cabs are commercial irrespective of weight.

I've noticed a lot of people with crew cab pickups, you know those enormous American style ones and they usually conform to a certain 'type' that I've noticed.

They seem to be:

mid 40s to mid 50s white male
Carrying a few extra lbs
often balding
Drive aggressively
Insist on doing things like driving into central london in a vehicle that does late teens MPG if they are lucky.

Nothing against that per se, but it is annoying when they cut you up as you can be fairly sure nothing short of a large SUV will come off better in that confrontation.

I had a Ranger for work, it was awful to drive and not durable off road + it made me drive like a . My coworker who thought he was a cross between Danny Dyer and Ray Winstone loved it however.

Chavy or not I’d certainly have a Hennessy fettled Raptor in my garage if I had the cash, surly the only suitable choice to tow the incredibly heavy caterham about...
