For a 20,000 mile Ferrari 599 bought today, assuming Ferrari main dealer service history to date, and Ferrari main dealer service history going forward. 3,000 miles per year. Would anyone like to estimate the running costs assuming ownership for the next 10 years? Many thanks smile

I assume by running costs you mean maintenance only my estimate is minimum £25k - excluding petrol and insurance

I like guessing! I'm going to say 35k for 10 years as I'd have thought over that kind of period there'll be at least one "majorish" cost job. I think the carbon ceramic brakes run a fair bit for example if they need replacing.

I think £25k is a reasonable estimate but depends on a number of factors (including luck) such as would you use a franchised dealer or an Indy for maintenance and what has been done over the last few years. For example I had to replace the front shocks on mine at about 12,000 miles but it had done a lot of mountain driving and quite a few track days. If they have not yet been replaced probably will need done sometime over the next 10 years. How many sets of tyres are you going to go through (depends both on usage and driving style and how new are the tyres it comes with). IMHO I think you’d be unlucky to have a major engine or gearbox issue but will probably need a new clutch if not done recently. There is an element of “how long is a piece of string?”.

You’ll also likely need a new water pump in that timeframe (unless it has already been replaced). That’s another 3.5k to add to your tally but the 25-35k estimates being bandied about seem safe. Rather than asking on here, why not pick up the phone to a respected indy and ask them? Let us know what they say as I’m sure it will be of interest.

Had mone now for 5 years, used t use DL but was always a £3-5k service for the first few years so took it the Indy route as it won't be sold and it's been better looked after but had an expensive year this year.

Rear diff needed a rebuild (@50k miles)
Gearbox out and refresh
few suspension mounts and service inc above was £9k

Then 2 weeks later the fooking clutch master line started leaking as it had just been worn over the years, being hidden behind the prop so all the above needed to come out again and I decided to have the clutch done as well as I knew it would need doing next year.

Then discovered the rear right box was done for so needed a new rear box L&R so went SuperSprint so have another 7k bill on top of the £9k.

The car is perfect now apparently as haven't had the chance to pick it up yet.

Mine gets used a lot in all weathers so over the 5 years I've had it I've put 30k miles on it in 5 years so think its the kind of things I was expecting to replace.

Will probably need new discs in a year or 2's time so already looking at replacing with Surface Transform discs for when they need doing.
