I suspect it won't happen but I'm in a cash position of being able to scratch said itch and thinking about a 430 Spider for around 70-75k. I'd likely run it for a year or two and then move it on as I can't keep the cash tied up for that long. I realise that sticking that much money in a car, any car, is somewhat risky but I loathe finance although appreciate that it might be the way forward. How much are these depreciating, am I likely to lose much in value over two years? If I find one privately that might mitigate any losses with no dealer premium but they're not exactly thick on the ground.

Just interested in people's thoughts really.

Yes, good time to buy at the moment, prices have dipped due to lots of bad news in the papers. I bought a 360 the other day and got a good deal.

When you say you got a good deal can you elaborate a little?

Well prices of 360 F1's have come down 20% in the last year or so. I think there's still some way to go but prices of 430 F1s have come down to 360 manual prices.

Well my manual 360 coupe was offfered for £45k as it has not been service whilst off the road (sorn) for 2 years with no real takers so would do a straight swap for a 430f1 with same 29,000 miles and 13 main dealer service stamps including only 4 previous only, tool-kits etc .Often wondered what a nice condition low mileage 360 would make breaking up for parts?

Wow that’s cheap. I would have bought that in a heartbeat. Where did you advertise it?

Be careful OP. Historic depreciation performance is not going to be much of an indicator of values in two years time. The impact of Covid and Brexit cant really be predicted imo.

As the above poster has said with the world the way it is if you cannot afford/would rather not lose a good chunk of the cash it might be better to sit tight until at the spring. That said, if you can find a car and dealer who are open to offers there are probably good deals to be done over the next few months.

Cheers chaps, not in any rush to buy especially with a decent chunk of hard earned at play. Must admit I've never been a huge fan of Ferrari but when you hear them, good God. I followed an Enzo in Weybridge once on my admittedly puny 600cc bike but with a decent helmet on and couldn't hear a thing apart from the noise coming out the back of that monster. Glorious, just glorious. I think I followed it for about five miles just for the hell of it.

As per the FF thread looks like your budget gets you into one of those now. Nothing beats a V12, though on historical precedent that can also apply in terms of depreciation!

Its all about where you drive them. Driving in town is utterly pointless, unless you have to go through it to get home. Get out on some proper roads, they are proper drivers cars.

Make you grin like an idiot every time.

Doing a fair bit of reading around, what's the story with the manifolds, will they always crack or is just a select few?

Always proceed with caution with a F430 and get a good report. https://m18eut.wordpress.com/f430-engine-rebuild/

It’s a matter of when, not if.

I have a 08 F430 which i am told have the factory modified manifolds but not sure whether they uprated the Cats at the same time.

Was going to fit headers, sports cat and stage 3 Capristo , number 1 to get it to sound nearer to a 360 and 2 for piece of mind but

having the remainder of a Ferrari warranty i was told that by doing so may effect any claims as only Ferrari parts are permitted.

didn't want to give them the excuse to wriggle so left it.

Warranty now run out so looking forward to doing this in the spring.

Also got a Gen 1 Gallardo still on it's original 16 year old Cat and exhaust , Every time i turn into my driveway i breath

a sigh of relief that the engines not devoured the Cats , So need to sort this out as well before my luck runs out.

Looks like an expensive spring, thinking about a " Go fund me "page , what do you think ?

So this is progress ,Don't have this problem with my 41 year old 308 GTB,

Looks like i need to go backwards to go forwards.
