How many miles did you Ferrari have on it when you got it?
Discussion
The 458 can take miles very easily indeed. The "issue" is that people don't believe that, so if you're going to use the car a lot (and please do!), don't buy a low mileage one to start with, unless you don't care about the money you'll lose when you come to sell. In my opinion a 20/30k+ 458 is a real bargain, many thousands to be saved over a sub-10k car, and the higher mileage car is likely to run better and be more reliable also.

Also probably the most expensive 2,000 miles you can do in a Ferrari, given that 3x,000 is "low mileage" in the world of 355s, and 4x,000 is "shagged" (strangely, these figures never seem to change with each passing year).
I took mine from low 40s to 50+ in the first couple of years, then had kids, so it has sat in the garage for four shameful years. At some point I will get it back on the road. Never going to sell it.
I bought it with best intentions, just life and work always seems to get in the way. 2020 was meant to be a reset year in terms of going out in the car and doing more social stuff with it but then covid came along. My plan sometime between 2023 and 2025 is to drive the car back to the factory.
So I might redeem myself yet....

360 Modena.
32,000 km when I got it.
170,000 km now.
Good man. I've put 27,000 on my F12 and 26,000 on my 458 Spider and intend to keep going till either they fall to bits or I do.32,000 km when I got it.
170,000 km now.
Funny thing with the general mileage vs value debate is that my natural reaction to the last 10 months has been frustration that I haven't been able to put the usual miles on my cars (2000 on the Spider, 890 on the F12 vs the usual 4k ish per car). IMO the more miles you do the more value you're getting. That might not seem like many but I have other cars I have to put miles on too. :-)
As for condition mine get whatever they need and have had PPF from new. JCT consistently report back that they're in exceptional condition. I firmly believe that condition has nothing to do with mileage and is more to do with the attitude of the owner. A car could be stored on the road side, neglected and driven 1000 miles a year or stored in a climate controlled garage, driven 5000 miles a year and given anything it needs and my experience is that the latter is the better car.
Bought my first Ferrari in November, at 33750 miles. It’s now covered 34000!
I’m absolutely itching to be out in it, but the weather would have ruined the enjoyment anyway; so I’ve used the time to really make sure it looks the part for when it finally does go out. I’ll be taxing it in March, and providing Covid has blown over, we’ll be driving it down to the South of France this August for its first proper road trip with us.

What model?
France sounds awesome mate.

Very well put! Makes me quite sad to see frequent discussions along the lines of "keep the mileage low to maintain value".
I subscribe to this theory... with the only slight modification that if the weather doesn't warrant the mileage save it for another day.I'd rather do my V12 Ferrari miles on dry roads and not freezing.
Of course, it I get caught in the rain, no problem.
I’m impressed that you’re confident you’ll be able to do a French road trip this summer. We normally do at least one continental road trip each year but we cancelled (unsurprisingly) our planned Italy and France road trip last year and I must say we’re not confident about resurrecting it this year primarily due to the slow vaccine roll out in the EU. I hope we’re wrong and wish you luck.

Thank you. I remain doubtful. It was supposed to be last August but the circumstances meant we put it back a year. I can handle the prospect of it being postponed again but I think it will hit my other half a bit harder this time, she is beginning to emotionally struggle with the restrictions now so it would be such a shame for it to be postponed a second time. Them’s the rules, and they are first world problems. JayP1 said:
Any closer to buying a car yet, Adam?
I’m looking to apply for finance in April, mate. Zero-point right now. I can’t test drive right now, and we’re in lockdown. I’m going to put down a 20% deposit too, so I need a little longer to save the £30k ish for that and £8k for the full Inconel system that Brooke Racing is making for me.
They’re 3 I have my eye on, which have all been sitting there for a while. I’m hoping it will increase my leverage, and now I’ve come to learn I don’t need one with sub 5k, it’s opened up my options a lot.
Although, in saying that, there is a nice 15,000k one at Premier GT that’s been there for six months, and they won’t budge on the £135k sticker price. It seems he’s sunk all his cash into it or something and doesn’t want to take a loss or something. To put it into perspective, Jardine just sold one with a similar spec, 3 x less miles, with the F warranty, same year, for only £4K more than he is asking. So it’s a weird one they won’t consider any discount at all. He said “the market is booming”. I respectfully disagreed and said I would be back in April.
Most other dealers are happy to give a big discount, and I don’t need to mess about with a PPi and £2600 per year for the warranty, so I’m hoping to get one through a dealer tbh.
It’s all well and good cutting out Ferrari to save cash, but when you have to pay out £600 for a PPi and £5600 for a two-year warranty, it puts you back in dealership pricing
