Ferrari is currently knocking out too many models and variants.

Their sweet spot was

1 x petite
1 x large
1 x halo
1 x 4 seater

I still haven't worked out why you'd buy a Roma over a Portofino, other than simply you prefer the looks

Interesting hearing that the Roma falls down on a few levels. It's a very pretty car but agree that spec otpikns over 40k are now getting ridiculous and a willing waving process which people are going to lose a lot of money from. The gtc lusso v12 2nd hand whilst ugly is clearly a more intoxicating experience.

I think that probably is the intended reason but also that some people will buy a Roma that wouldn't have bought a Portofino. Then it is the same basic platform so you would imagine development costs were lower than for a complete new model. I would think it is probably working as Ferrari hoped. They've made a fair few.

Never quite understood the Roma - I just don’t find the styling at all interesting or spectacular, and the front grill…a total no no for me.

But where does this car sit? I can understand them wanting a bit of the Aston Martin market, but surely the 812 does that and does it more convincingly. Then there is the Portofino which is the daily driver and the best of both worlds - a hard top convertible.

So who picks the Roma and is happy to pay £200k plus?
I picked the Roma and am very happy at a touch over 200k. Took delivery late last year and loving every minute of it! Not into convertibles and don't particularly think the portofino looks that good. Wanted something as a semi-daily and a bit easier to get on with than something lower that I need to worry about raising suspension all the time on. Was great for a weekend away with the Mrs last summer (loaner while waiting for mine to be built), easy as a Honda Civic to drive into central London and with surround view can make it into NCP's without worrying too much about the wheels (still doing it v slowly of course, it is wide).

To me it's just the best looking car they make and it's also a hoot to drive.

Personally I wouldn’t take a blind bit of notice of talk of discounts uttered on here or many other web sites. Generally it’s a friends friend or somebody told me about a huge discount given on Ferrari’s, Lambo’s or Mac, and when you go looking those discounts are generally grossly exaggerated or not available at all. Rarely is it the person who actually made the purchase!
Sorry to be a cynic but there to much talking up or down of values on line, only way to find out is talk direct to the dealers.

The cupboard is a bit bare at the moment, the F8s and 812s have both gone, as well as the GTC4 lussos, so we’re left with the Portofino M, Roma and 296 GTB and the SF90s. Going to be interesting to see where they go next…

On 21/2, I am going to another 296 evening at the dealer, the third. Last I heard, it’s still a year away.
