I've only seen it at one launch event where the reaction was very mixed. Some (me included) clearly loved it and were queuing to get inside it for a proper look. However one had to wonder why some of the other attendees had bothered to come - they didn't even wait for the chance to get in it or for the dealer to start it to see what it sounded like - they were straight off to the canapes and drinks.
I do think the two tone colour scheme doesn't do it any favours. Anyway, time will tell.

At the launch event I was at when they revealed the car it was the quietest round of applause I ever heard. Even the new Range Rover got more a week earlier!

Everyone walked off to the champagne bar after the reveal and only 5/6 out of the 100+ people there walked to the car.

Ferrari either pleases shareholders or customers and to me it’s clear which way they are going. A few long standing Ferrari customers are friends and they are no longer touching their new cars as they dont want a £100k hit rather than a £50/75k uplift. Times have changed.

At the prices they are going to the writing is on the wall for Ferrari. The 4x4 will hopefully save them but paying much much more money for less and less of an experience with each new car surely can't go on forever.

Younger people aren't arsed about cars and us 40 plus lot are going to need the ICE engines for a good while yet. After 2030 they are done making sports cars all of the manufacturers will be.

I wonder what the the total f8 uk delivery figures will be by close of the model.
Granted the 488 was in production longer but in London virtually never see an f8 on the road versus when the 488 was out, there were dozens around daily.
There seems plenty for sale on here though but agree a couple of people I know couldn't be bothered upgrading due to loss of value and constant model change. I think another couple of years and more customer base losing 30 to 60k in 12 to 18 months of ownership will thin out the new toy purchase brigade as depreciation has got to bite at some point.

Haven't seen the 296 up close yet and these horrible naff 2 tone stripes will not age well.

Agree with you about the F8 which was a mild facelift and stop gap car before the 296 arrived. I bought a Spider because I wanted a V8 Spider, not to upgrade from something before.

In the fullness of time, I expect the 458 Speciale and 488 Pista will hold their value best with the 488 struggling. I don’t like to look how much my 488 GTB is worth…

I think the strange colour scheme for the 296 is down to the Assetto Fiorano package. Ferrari does itself no favours by over specifying its launch cars.

I wouldn't be to negative about the price of your 488. I bought a GTB in June 2020 and traded it last month. £7k loss in 16 months and 3k miles.

The only current car Ferrari make that floats my boat is the 812 GTS, bit out of my league for the moment. I traded in for GTC4 Lusso. I think it's a seriously underrated Ferrari, that V12 is glorious, pretty practical too!

Just like every other launch event I've been to for the past decade then!

Exactly. The last launch event where a majority of the invitees put pen to paper was on the Southbank in London when Aston Martin presented the DB9 in 2004. A real step up from previous Astons and a proper game changer that everybody in the room wanted.
