They are all dappled effect I believe, mine certainly is.
The rubber couplers for the air inlets to the top of the engine also look dusty, but maybe they are just dusty. Not trying to spoil your pride and joy, I just wanted you to be aware in case you have recourse to the seller (if its a dealer)
Don't worry no offence taken, its a 23 year old car so I expect things to go wrong. The rubber couplers for the air inlets to the top of the engine also look dusty, but maybe they are just dusty. However you were completely correct.....
Although in the original pics the airboxes are clear of dust, after my run to work In it today (35 miles each way) the engine bay is now white and dusty 😆
So question, does this continue and the silencer news replacing or does it just need a good blow out and it'll stop?

Don’t mess about, go Capristo sound 3 for some F1 notes
Kline's Inconel is a good match. The challenge for me is that I don’t want the car stupidly noisy and I don’t want drone on the motorway.
That seems to mean Capristo, Kline, or CS exhaust. First two are expensive
Apparently the Kline system in this video is the stainless version. Still sounds awesome.

Just looked at the price! Not a budget friendly solution!

Whilst the CS keeps the car OE, it does not produce the higher pitch wail of a Capristo or Kline. The challenge for me is that I don’t want the car stupidly noisy and I don’t want drone on the motorway.

Good luck getting a CS Exhaust for a reasonable price.

Another vote for the Capristo from me. In combination with 200 cell sports cats it really is a bit of theater.
I'd also vote for the Challenge alloys but appreciate it's an individual thing.
Which Sound level is that capristo Jim? I'd also vote for the Challenge alloys but appreciate it's an individual thing.
The car I’ve picked up, has a Sound 1, which although better than stock is still quite restrained and doesn’t make the F1 wail.
I think that’s due to the exhaust config, the Sound 3 uses an x pipe

Mine is an Sound 3.
I had it fitted before collecting the car and had the original sent up to me in a box so don't really have a comparison with the standard noise but by coincidence I was out moving my original exhaust (and cats) around in the garage yesterday and both the exhaust and cats are massive and heavy compared to the replacements. It really gives a high pitched scream and I think seems in keeping with the car.

These exhausts also look very good. Apparently weighs less than 15kg.
