458 v 488 market

Funny that my dealer KEEPS asking to buy my 458 and swap me into a 488 that they’re finding hard to shift….
Why is it funny? Sales bloke can shift a 458 more quickly than a 488 and is likely to make more money on it as well. No wonder he KEEPS asking you to sell it to him.Of course the dealer wants you to trade your 458. I can guarantee that 488 owners are getting calls asking them to trade into F8’s and F8 owners into 296! It’s business, it’s how they make money!
I was looking at buying another 458, but the prices being so close to 488 just don’t make any sense to me now. I agree the 458 sounds better, but the 488 is faster, newer, and to me, looks more modern and more aggressive, so it is looking very appealing right now!

Have to say I wasn't entirely convinced but maybe the Meridien car is an accurate reflection of a slight softening of price?
bizarre really, the 458 is universally acknowledged to be one of the all time greats. just can't see them falling sharply to sub £100k or anything imoWCZ said:

I don't think anyone see's them going to 100k but the low mileage examples which are in the 155-165 range coming down to low 140's and higher mileage in that 110-125k range is what i think is more realistic. Sure they are great sounding cars but the difference between them and a 488 just doesn't make sense currently. Looking back at at 2019-20 pricing, you could of picked up a low sub 15k mileage 458 in the 130's range if not even less than that. The good spec ones with the correct options will always be worth a significant amount over the others which people would be willing to pay a premium for. If prices dont change for the 458, i would most likely go down the route of a 488 which would typically have more variety in colour, spec and better infotainment system.Looks like another certified pre owned 458 has been reduced now by Jardine today. Was listed for a few months in mid 140's and now at 139k matching with the meridien but 2,000 miles higher.

Having driven both, now owning the 458 the sound is just one part of the story, the 458 is a far more fun car to enjoy on the road, it feels alive by comparison to the 488 which does not entertain until much higher speeds due to more planted setup and power delivery from the engine. For me sound aside the 458 is a far more enjoyable car on the road, particular within legal speeds, the 458 is also a far far better looking car, I'd always pay more for a 458 of similar age/miles and condition.
If I want a less fun car for the daily commute I can buy something else, for me if buying Ferrari its got to be NA V8 or V12, if your looking at turbocharged motors then I'd not even give Ferrari a look because in all honesty I think Mclaren do a far better with their sport series cars.
Why I've got a 458 and 600 LT, best of both worlds and for me far far better than any 488/F8.

Both this and their black coupe price dropped today again.Chris355 said:
Ive seen a few price reductions going on with advertised 458's recently. They are not all huge, sometimes just a couple of grand here and there, but they are definitely reducing, which at this time of year is strange as the normal seasonal trend is for them to be increasing.
That's why it's noteworthy.I paid 159 for a 13 reg 7k miler back in 2018. That was a long time ago and a lot of releases have happened since. Seems crazy they are the same or more now.
I tend to not buy the whole nat aspirated argument either really. A new generation is buying (or not given the ad above) Ferraris now and they don't care about the sound (which I don't understand). Those of us that care either already have them or have moved onto other things.

Regarding pricing- I don't think this is 458 specific or in any way exclusive to 458/488, as most car prices have come down (admittedly in some cases from some crazy heights) since the start of this year. I'm looking at a Vanquish S/DBS Superleggera which is unrelated to either at the moment and virtually every car I am potentially interested in or watching has come down in price, many of them multiple times and still unsold in many cases.
Been some time since the last post on the thread, but there continues to be price drops with Ferrari dealers on their 458 stock. I have done some inquires and it seems that there isn't that much interest on the cars so I assume there will be a slow gradual drop over the coming months. Hopefully will be able to lock in a deal soon

Its not just 458's, entire market is dropping pretty much, basically a lot of corrections happening. It is becoming a buyers market again.

458 is my dream potentially attainable car. Absolutely zero interest in a 488. I'm sure I'm not the only one with that sentiment.
A Ferrari dealer being perplexed by 458 prices is either lying (most likely) or in the wrong job.

The 458 is just such an event to drive!
I've owned mine over four years now, truly epic car and though I have considered selling it, even listed it on PH but the advert only survived 24hr's I am gonna keep it for now as the specification is so rare and also very high-end been triplo strato with painted roof, buckets and giallo stitching throughout along with full carbon interior.
Drive aside also prefer the far cleaner lines of the 458, it will age far better than the 488.
