The power 15 warranty covers, what, 75% of the cars value I would think ? £30k gearbox and £80k for an engine.

So for about £1800 a year you’re covering £110k of issues. For me, a no brainer.

I know there are some annoying exclusions. But I’ve successfully claimed for a suspension failure - no hassle. The dealer just did it all.

As I’ve said below, a warranty is just an insurance product. If you are happy with the risk then it’s no issue. But that doesn’t reduce the likelihood of the risk.

Also, I think that buying a car with the warranty shows the provenance of the car, to some extent. You can’t just slap a warranty on any old 458.
1.8k sounds cheap, on my FF it was more than 4k [Euros] I think. I agree on the provenance aspect - it means it at least was checked and found good enough for a warranty.

If power 15 really is just £1800 a year then that is probably worth it, but that is surprisingly cheap.
It's been a while now, but when I looked for my old 430 at the time it was quite a lot more than that.

This thread from last year prices it at £3700 for the first year and £2800 after that if you don't claim.

the same andyr is in that thread saying £2800 after 30% discount for no claims, so his earlier post was a misprint at £1800..

Hi, you’ll get answers to this question that say don’t do it and keep the money in a pot for rainy days.

I have always had the warranty and it costs me £2800 as you get a 30% discount for renewing without a claim..So you might be able to negotiate on that price you’ve been quoted.

I have it to cover expensive items like the gearbox and engine.

Having said that, I’ve just had a £3k claim authorised for an issue with the suspension.

When my 458's warranty was ending in October I asked them for a quote. I forget the exact price but it was definitely over £3500 - I checked with both Manchester and Birmingham and was quoted the same (whatever that was). They also said that as the existing warranty was from an approved used car sale, the 15% renewal discount didn't apply.

I'm trying to find the document they sent me that shows what is/isn't covered (probably deleted as I didn't renew) but I do remember the 'big' items like gearbox and engine didn't cover leaks, and the 'common' gearbox issue generally started with a dump of oil (leak) so would not be covered. As I knew someone that had had this exact issue I asked the service dept and they confirmed it wouldn't be covered. But, the warranty is there if someone wants it, at least we have a choice.

My brother’s didn’t leak before it went, just couldn’t get all the gears. That was on a Cali T and a 458 Spider, both the same gearbox.

Paid £2500 for my extended warranty { + inspection) in March which included the 30% discount, have always had it under warranty since new.
Ferrari also do a very good combined deal that includes the yearly service with warranty that a lot of people don’t know about but certainly worth enquiring. I was told about this by a technician at Dick Lovett and HR Owen had no idea it existed.

OP, how’s the search going? If you can negotiate a Ferrari Warranty extension, maybe this is worth a look.

I don’t think I have any decent photos of it, real shame and it’s too late to go into the garage.

This video is from when I bought it, sadly it’s no longer in the sold gallery.

Yes very nice SupSp, just prefer the forged wheels option. Grigio Silverstone is a timeless shade, looks good on any Ferrari.

Yeah, I’ve actually kept a keen eye on that one—but I was after something a bit more 'Rosso' to be honest.

I really liked the 458 Joe Macari had up for sale—it matched my spec perfectly and still had 6 months of warranty on it. Then I noticed it’s been sold! Link to listing: https://www.joemacari.com/stock/ferrari-458-italia...

If I don’t find the right spec soon, I might just give in and go for something like what you’ve listed—at least for the time being.

I was also trying to make the maths work on the Speciale, but that one might need to wait a bit longer biggrin

Hi all,

I’ve come across a Ferrari 458 with under 5,000 miles on the clock and a very desirable spec. Overall condition looks excellent and it’s been SORN’d and stored indoors since 2021.

However, the last recorded service was also in 2021. It hasn’t had the annual servicing Ferrari usually expects to keep things up to spec, which leads me to two questions:

1. Would this car still qualify for the Ferrari Power Warranty, or would the missed/late services automatically disqualify it? Has anyone had experience reinstating eligibility after bringing a car up to date?

2. More broadly — I know the general advice here is to avoid “garage queens.” While I’m not overly concerned about resale, I am thinking about long-term reliability. What kind of issues should I expect from a 458 with ultra-low mileage but patchy servicing?

Appreciate any insight from those who’ve dealt with similar situations.

Thanks!

You need to understand from the owner how it has been stored. If it’s been started a run to temp at least every month or so or has it literally been sat there completely unused. If it’s the latter, which is likely given they haven’t even serviced it, then I’d probably avoid it, it might be completely fine but what’s the point in taking that risk. Keep the search going…

Hi Casio, May I ask what spec exactly you’re after? I’m currently considering giving my 458 to the supplying
Ferrari dealer on SOR and it’s very similar to the one joe Macari sold.

FYI for anyone interested, this is the car I've found: https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2011-ferrari-4...

It's auction site which makes these car even more of a gamble hehe But I will be doing a full PPI once I've got a bit more information on it's storage/history.
