So chaps, what's the view on the FF?

Currently I've got a Bentley GTC which having 2 kids get's used a surprising amount, so I was wondering about updating it to an FF.

I have sat in them and I seem to recall the rear seats are really quite good.

Seems £160 ish gets a nice one, and given 612s seem to have bottomed out at circa £70 ish, do we think FFs have a lot further to go?

Any views from owners greatly appreciated.

I'd have said 612s have bottomed, thus far, at c£45-50k not 70. I speak as an owner.

I think there is 50% of that £160k still to be dropped on a FF in the next 5 years. I'm sure it will drop well under £100k. Look at the 599 with the pseudo Enzo engine and in the traditionally more resilient 2-seater guise; I haven't checked of late but a few months back the earlier ones were at £90k asking from independents.

Why would they not bottom out roughly where 456s have? It'll take a long while to get there though.

Ok, forget the bottoming out bit, life's too short and not everything has to be thought of as an investment.

So to replace the Bentley GTC, ferrari Ff or phantom coupe?

Crikey, that is an interesting set of choices! As the last chap said, to me they seem very different. The Fezza is a sports car trying to be a GT, the Phantom is a British instititution trying to be a sportscar. Horses for courses I feel.

I haven't done the stats, but the FF is a more useful size than some other 4 seater cars of this ilk. In a couple of years I might swap my scag for a FF. I suspect it is smaller than the phantom and also significantly faster. I really should read the reviews before posting, but that's my impression, facts aside.

The Phantom is all about hushed comfort whereas the Ferrari most definitely isn't. Your GTC is more akin to the Ferrari in many ways. The Ferrari really doesn't have much space in the back and is a four seater. The boot is pretty small too. The Phantom has none of these issues but is too big to use daily if you have to park it anywhere.

One unknown with the FF when compared to other V12 Ferraris is how the 4wd system will last, ergo affecting used values for older cars more than the simpler previous offerings.

Never driven an FF, but from what I've read it's the perfect all-round car:

V12 - check
Boot big enough for bikes - check
4 seats - check
4wd if needed - check
Nice place to sit - check

Ticks all the boxes...

Ive driven a couple. Great cabin, amazing sound from the V12 (sounds even louder than in the F12 I think), very good on the road, decent useable boot.

As at alternative to the Bentley I would say go for it, I certainly wouldn't choose a Phantom.

Have to say I think I'm erring towards the FF.

The Phantom might be just a touch ostentatious!

Because the purchase price new is much higher, the build quality is much better and the package compared with other Ferraris will always make it more valuable than a 456.
I do agree that the one unknown is durability of fwd.
I would have thought FF's will bottom out at around £75k rather than sub £30k for a 456.

These seem to be doing decent miles looking at the classifieds.

Nice see a less mileage sensitive ferrari

I've put 15k miles on a new FF. Prior to that I had a 599 and 612. The FF is in a different class, a much better car.

I would buy another when this goes, but this will be my last Ferrari.....it's all become a bit ho-hum.

Good luck and if you're looking for a well maintained 62 in Silverstone/beige, PM me.

Love my FF. Bought in April a 2012 with 3k miles and put 6k on so far. It's used regularly carries the whole family (child seats inc rear facing fit fine) and I even managed a week in South of France with the whole family inc buggy etc.

Sound is fantastic and the power of the is immense. It's seen 199mph at bruntingthorpe (203 indicated) and on the road it's comfortable with great visibility.

It's a 4seat v12. It's going to depreciate, but I think it will hold pretty well as its just so versatile - it's the first ferrari you can genuinely use 365 days a year rain or shine and that does make it different to every 4 seater that's gone before..

I also compared with the rolls coupe / wraith and Rapide. FF no contest if you want excitement. The wraith is nice but not exciting, the phantom coupe is an event and a very special thing but wasn't for me yet. I might pick one up when they bottom out and store it for my 60th....
