Greetings PH collective;

Wondering if anyone might be able to shed some light on a chirping noise I'm hearing from the bellhousing area on my 456M GTA. When at idle in park or neutral it's more prevalent, seems to go away once you select either reverse or drive and a load is applied. I don't suspect a torque tube bearing as those seem to make more of a grumbling noise, however I haven't ruled it out completely. Doesn't seem to matter if hot or cold (either ambient or driveline temp).

Thanks and cheers!

Could still be the front bearing in the torque tube, could equally be the ring gear chaffing the starter if the bolts have become loose. There is an inspection hatch at the base of the bell housing secured with four ten mm bolts, if you can get the car lifted up and remove the plate and shine a torch up there you might see witness marks on the teeth of the ring gear...

Many thanks. I've located the inspection panel. I'll drop it down and have a peek up in there. Wonder if there's any way to get a very long handled 1/4" Drive ratchet up there to try and nip the bolts up if that's the case.
