At present I own a DB9 and an Audi S8 but have decided its probably time to change the DB9 .......looking at 08 cars with 30k ish miles ...... apart from the obvious what should I look out for ? Prices for 599 and 612 seem to have hardened considerably in the past 12-18 months and industry opinion is prices will head north just as they have with 550 and 575........any thoughts or recommendations would be very much appreciated

Sure but make sure you try HGTE and non HGTE cars before you buy as they are quite different and HGTE not to everyone's taste.

I am surprised that opinion is that prices are heading north, my feeling (not UK though) was that if anything they are slowly heading south at the moment.
Things to look for:
CCB and clutch useage percentages, both quite pricey to replace.
I believe 2008 onwards cars had some differences and you cannot get the faster HGTE shifts on the pre 2008 cars

Prices are softening at present across the whole Ferrari/sports car market (including UK).Not just seasonal either IMHO.
I think 599 is a good buy at present but I would be looking to buy at about £100k for a non HGTE.

1. Yes buy one
2. Prices hardened from 2014 to 2017, but have given up at least 50% of those gains since then but seem to have found a base. The Ferrari Centre has sold a couple since the New Year.
3. I don't think prices fall from here, but neither do I think we see prices any higher for a while.
4. Running costs I would budget £3000 a year, no timing chain, but as mentioned Carbon Ceramic Brakes and Clutches are very expensive, and the last I heard they are close to £8000 for each set. They do last a long time assuming not too much abuse.
5. Electric warning lights are a well known issue, but they don't always mean there is anything wrong.

Overall the 599 is an epic car and I would love to own one again.

At this age of vehicle, buy on condition, not the number of owners (to which you'll be adding one more anyway).

The TDF blue one looks nice and if brakes replaced means discs and pads, then it could be quite attractive. And TDF is stunning

A lot of those on market have been there for some time.
If you find a motivated seller I think you'll get a good deal.

OP if you're OK with a left hooker I will soon advertise my '09 rosso corsa due to relocation.

Originally suppled in Italy with a classic specification of beige interior with all the normal extras including carbon driving zone, spider wheels & front parking sensors. Only covered 13,000 miles of which I have done more than half over three years and it has been great. It has a custom sports exhaust so it sounds truly epic.

Send me a pm if you'd like to have a look.

Mid 2009 onward saw the biggest electrical changes to the Car and this point onward was when Sofast 2 for the gearbox was at its best. Of all the v12 Ferrari’s since I’ve been around f-cars (more than twenty years now...how did that happen??) The 599 is the one that has bucked the trend in terms of depreciation. In terms of numbers that make more sense, they have built more DB9’s and V8 vantage’s than every other Aston added together....
