And now the post........

And its an unhappy post (will cross post to Ferrari Chat idc). So on 10 Jul, I went to go and look at an FF from GVE. Car looked good and sales guy was really friendly, took me for a drive and walked me through the things they'd do to sort out the minor issues on the car eg some bits of internal trim missing, remove the gangster tint, fix the tear in the dash leather, paint the wheels silver as they needed to repair them anyway, new key, reproduce the service book etc and that theyd service and MOT it and detail it. Yay. The finance was a great deal at £23k down and £330 month. Said yes to my first Ferrari. To be absolutely fair, it said i didn't want the car for a week or 2 because i was waiting for the insurance company to pay out for my stolen RS3. Ok, cool. Lets go from there........

So the dash needed to be repaired and that was sent off to an external supplier. Fair enough. But this dragged on and on. So i was told after 2 weeks of waiting, id get it on the Wednesday - arranged a ride down etc. Late on Tuesday, nope sorry, but definitely Friday because they need to install the dash and finish detailing. Ok, fair enough, better perfect.. Friday came, but no car. Apparently still not finished, but absolutely 100% on Saturday it would be delivered. Got to midday, no car. Phoned GVE to get a receptionist telling me, oh no, its not coming today. Nothing from the rep. Spoke to him later and expressed my extreme unhappiness. But totally Monday. Nope. The next day, i got a call an hour before the car was due to be delivered to be told, actually the roof needs to be repainted as there are a number of cracks in the paint. Bloody fuming. Apparently they hadn't addressed it earlier as they thought they could detail it out - but any detailer worth anything would see after the wash that they weren't going to polish those cracks out. But the car finally arrives (and pencilled in to go back for the roof).

Yay, i finally had the V12!!!! But, did i have the service book - Nope. New Key - Nope. Paperwork history - Nope. Were the missing trim parts replaced eg VIN cover, seat belt runner - Nope. Had they repainted the wheels as promised - actually yes - But total st!! So bumpy (clearly not dipped), and the respray wasnt coated, so the paint was already flaking off. Will be spending £500 to get them redone. OK, the detail (apart from the roof) looked lovely. They also ceramic coated it for free to make up for some of the delays for which i acknowledge and appreciate. But, after my experience to date, i had totally lost my faith in GVE, so i took my one week old car to Bob Haughton Ferrari as they are 10mins from me for a oil service and check over to give me piece of mind. Great service from them and mechanically the car is sound, which is great news. However....the oil certainly didn't look like it was brand new and the computer was saying the rear discs were 100% worn - sadly they didn't have time to verify by weighing the discs and said the computer ould be hit and miss. Spoke to GVE and asked them to check the discs when they had the car back to fix the roof. Sales rep asked as the car was serviced, why did i service it - but im doubtful they did a proper service. Who knows.. On the brightside, i know the car is mechanically sound by a trusted garage. Have also arranged to fix a parking senor with them as minor. Ok, next bit.....

Car went off 2 weeks ago to have the roof resprayed and to weigh the discs. I also asked them to lower it a tiny bit as the front was higher than the rear and it looked odd - and i said id pay for that as new work - £1000!!!! Got it back today. Id asked for the new key to be in the car, service book, and paperwork. Was it? fk was it! Told this morning that the key hadn't actually arrived from the factory yet as it was shut (id booked to see Dick Lovett Friday to code it, which GVE did say they would pay for), so had to cancel that. Service book is still doing the rounds (I spoke to Ferrari and got a printed version so i know the history, but i wanted a stamped book). Also told, we didnt weigh the discs, they looked fine!!! I dont care!!! I wanted the computer to be verified when it says 100% worn and i know visual inspections arent measurable!!! As soon as it came off the trailor, even the driver said, nah, theyve not even touched that roof - i went mental. The 2 reasons it had been gone 2 weeks leaving me with no car, and they hadn't done them. What words are there, but utterly incompetent?

What annoys me above all else in this story is that its me chasing, endlessly. I shouldn't feel bad for asking for an update, but i do, but why am i even needing to do that? I went to supercar dealer to get good service and they utterly failed. And it still needs to go back AGAIN and stuff is still missing eg key. I want to be over communicated with!!!!! Ive had to pay for a service, new wheels and trim which should have been there to start. Ive paid in addition for new headsets and remote, door seals, mats and new wheel bolts to get it to the standard (which to be fair i wouldn't expect from them) i expect it to be and TBH, because, itll be on the market very soon and i want to sell a car thats 100% in every respect.

The car itself is mechanically sound (and proven by trusted source), the body looks great (and eventually the roof will) and the wheels will be new with new bolts. When it goes back to Bob Haughton for a new parking sensor, Im now going to have to pay them to weigh the discs (and that's half a day labour) - Im sure they are fine, and they do look fine, but the computer says something else and i will rectify if i need to (again i doubt it, but i want proof). Once the small trim parts arrive, the interior will be 100%, so the car itself, even with 44k miles should be 100% inside, outside and engine - and therefore, i hope, desirable.

The whole process of my first super car has been a total nightmare and utterly lays with GVEs poor communication, poor quality control, lack of checking work and lack of drive. The sales rep to be fair has been really good to deal with and apologetic, but that doesnt make up for everything else. At all. It has ruined the purchase for me, and frankly, ruined my experience to such an extent that i don't want the car. Its not the cars fault, but thats where we are (or will be in about 3 weeks time).

Do not use GVE.

Your car looks great in the pictures adm. Such a shame to hear of your experience with GVE. It was priced very low compared to the rest of the market, so it still might work out for you? If you total up spend and purchase are you out still less than equivalents on the market now? Just hoping to find some positive for you in amongst it all.

Also, while this needs to be available for future purchasers to read and avoid GVE, i am pretty sure pistonheads will cut it. Hopefully Fchat doesn't. It would be good for all enthusiasts if dealer feedback wasn't censored in favour of the dealers on here, ie follow the example set by 911uk forum and have proper unbiased dealer feedback. Stop people getting fked over by unscrupulous dealers

Sorry to hear about these dramas. You've been very poorly treated. It takes the shone off what is a discretionary purchase and what should be very pleasurable indeed. If the car's sound, hang in there, they're a great tool.

No pcp, so you take the risk in the depreciation but at £83k I think you’re safe!

I assume it’s unregulated which will mean tasty exit fees if you don’t go full term

Sorry to read about this.

There are already stories detailing GVE's reputation in circulation on here (if not removed) and also Google.

JBR should be regulated otherwise interest is front loaded which is a disaster if you want to settle or sell early. The APR at 7% is average for the industry but not something to applaud.

Sorry to read of the troubles, but hey, that's nearly over with now and you've got an FF! I'm sure a good road trip blast will make you fall back in love with it.

I'm still debating (now hampered by the Mrs deciding she wants to quit her job and focus on starting her own thing, meaning I'm now taking an unexpected £1,500/month hit funding her. She's promised me a GTO Engineering SWB when she makes it big... Anyway, I digress), and was considering looking at one at GVE but decided I didn't like the look of them as an outfit. Now decided I'll only deal with an authorised dealer or one of the big, trusted indies following a painful experience trying to view one near me at what turns out to be, in their own words, a "click and collect" dealership.

Looks like an interest only deal.

I've got a finance house offering me one of those at the moment as it's generally only available with a sizeable deposit.

I guess it's a good idea if you only want the car for a finite time them move it on.

Yep, that dealer has its share of similar stories.

Keen to hear about the discs. I bought a 15k mile car after looking at a few 30k milers and all had “computer says no” messages on the discs.

Anyone know why the ‘65 plate red car on auto trader is so competitively priced?
Tbh, I was in the market a couple of weeks ago but went with an Aston Vanquish in the end (lost the collecting cars black/red one by a few hundred£)

Even WBAC seems to be offering more than the advertised price.

Just curious.

I’m on the Northamptonshire/Warwickshire border and you’re more than welcome to come and have a look at mine (when it gets back from the dealer yet again!)
