Ferrari’s New Power warranty can be applied at any time on cars up to 15 years old. It will cover a catastrophic failure of the engine, PTU or DCT. There are, however, plenty of items it won’t cover (like weeping gaskets or broken linkages).

I really like the Bentley one - very handsome interior with the right amount of carbon (i.e. wheel only) but the dash strip, center console and door hardware are alu/stainless which is dignified and handsome. I looked at this earlier in the summer. It was at Harwoods in Chichester up at £125K. It is a great colour combo and interior, three owner car. It's a dreadful advert they've done though, with none of the options listed and showing things like solid and metallic paint.

It does however have a hole in the service history, two services missing, which is nuts as they were all on a service pack, and it's had a PTU repair, which due to the manner in which it was undertaken, appears excludes it from cover under a Ferrari New Power15 warranty. That's probably why it's sat around.

Must be honest, I'm really liking the idea of an FF. Currently have a Mac 540C but just had our first born and wondering how much I'll actually use it.

Realistically, could an FF be used for a couple, a baby and a Dog in the boot? Occasional use. Weekends out etc. We have a discovery sport for the usual stuff.

What are the must have options, and nice to haves?

Don’t know much about the FF’s but had my first addition to the family 10 months ago and my thoughts were the exact opposite. Keeping the 2 seater sports car is the best idea. With your child in the back you are never going to use the car in anger so what’s the point in that V12? Just use the discovery for the family stuff and keep the Mac would be my advice. You’ll be able to get a couple of hours fun out of it each Sunday morning and step away from being a dad for a small window of freedom. Just my 2 pence on it.

Would be great being able to take an FF. I'd certainly get a bit more use out of it.

Sadly for the 540C, unless I'm in it solo, I can't see when else it will get used.

Depending on size of the dog, it could work - put one seat down so the dog has a little more space to the front and the child seat on the other side

Definitely suitable, we've used it with 3 adults and 30Kg Black Lab plus luggage o na long weekend to France

Must have well Nav even though it's a bit poor, shields, LED wheel is nice, rear wiper, tbh they're pretty well specced as standard but many have huge option lists, ours was £285k new with ventilated front seats, rear entertainment, AFS and lot's of other stuff

They're stunning to drive as a GT but also surprisingly good on the the twisties

I've had 2 FF's and now a GTC Lusso for exactly that reason - a 2 seat car ultimately ends up being a solo machine, because someone has to look after the kids right? With the Lusso (or FF) we're not stuck to taking a slow car, but just because it's a beast you don't have to drive it like a nutter. Its just as happy cruising around. The only thing I would say is that the running costs are high, especially you need to get used to filling it up. Because you're going to do that a lot..Also parking can be a pain because it's a big car (wide and long) plus, you're going to be nervous where you can leave it. If you can live with that, you get the speed kick in one package.

Hey PacMan, Ferrari chat has a lot impressions of folks who've driven the FF, Lusso 12 and LussoT. The general consensus was the FF, while tamer than a mid-V8, is rawer than the more digital Lusso 12 which is quite muted. With the Lusso T being somewhere in the middle in terms of sound, dynamics, etc.

Do you mind sharing your impressions? My FF budget could stretch to a LussoT (esp as they near £160/150k) but I'm swayed by experiencing a NA V12 2+2 before emissions/ULEZ/batteries/SUV models etc. kill it off.

Thanks for any comparative driving stories.

BTW, the light silver Graupaul car dropped to £110.They'd probably settle for the £96 they *meant* to list it for...

Don’t under estimate the 4WS on the Lusso. It’s a big car, so adding that to a long wheelbase does make a big difference over the FF. the V12 feels more powerful too, and the delivery is smoother. Personally I wouldn’t buy a T, because all it’s power and torque comes in one go, so although on paper it’s similar in reality it’s either sluggish or over the top. Also you’ll miss the drama and noise of the V12. The interior of the Lusso is much nicer place to be than the circa 1980’s dash & switches of the FF.

That's gorgeous PackMan. Never driven either of the Lussos so thanks for the frame of reference. I don't think that 2 FFs I tried were 'too quiet' like some have shared, it's nice not to have to spend £2k on a new exhaust.

Catfood - are you going to share with us which car you got? Was it the grey Bentley one? I notice that's gone now.

Congrats for taking the plunge. I have a mid-December ski trip planned and am aiming to pull the trigger for that...

So, mine is the Bentley one. It is all Van Dessel's doing. I read and replied to his earlier post a few Fridays' ago, but that set me thinking. I was going to the Southampton Boat Show on the Sunday, and dropped into Bentley Hampshire en route, looking a bit unlike I had the means to buy such a car, and with children in tow.

Had a look through the history book. Took some photos. Said I didn't want a drive as I knew what they drove like and bid them what I felt it was worth, obvious hole in the history etc.. They came down a bit, I said I'll make some enquiries and left.

They didn't know what they had. Right colour combo, great diamond pattern trim, wheels, leather boot lining (!), passenger display (which I didn't even know was on the FFs, thought it was only on the GTC4. Made some enquiries. Missing services had indeed been done at northern supplying dealer, but not stamped. Then southern dealer did next services but didn't leave a space in the book. Southern dealer also replaced the PTU with a used one !! It developed fault whilst at Bentley. After some clarification, it turned out that would not exclude cover on a NewPower15 warranty as had been claimed previously. I can only assume they were trying to warn Bentley off doing it that way in the first place.

Sent them an email explaining why I bid that amount, waited for them to call, deal done at a very competitive price taking the above into account.

Loving it. Missing DAB on the commute though.
