Just looking for opinions as to where the 599 currently is on the depreciation curve? Do we think it has bottomed? or still further to go?
Is it a future classic?

There's a nice one for sale at an official Ferrari dealer for a bargain £100K although without the 'must have' CF Led steering wheel.

Whilst prices are definitely down 15-20% I believe on 12-18 months ago I still think there is further movement to come. Back 10 years or so ago trade bids on sub 10k mile cars was 65-70k..

I know they are advertised prices and not selling prices but I find the data at https://themarket.co.uk/market-trends to be at least useful in indicating market trends. Here is the graph for 599 prices in the UK since September 2014.

I've been following 599 prices for roughly two years now. They spiked roughly around the time Chris Harris bought one and people/the market realised that they were underpriced, particularly given the strong values of the F12 that replaced it. The prices stayed quite high for a period then gradually dropped away to their current levels.

HGTE cars - factory ones that is - appear to be holding their value well.

Where values will go is anyone's guess. My feeling is that if you can pick up a sub 20k mile car with FFSH at sub £120k, you're probably on the money. HGTE cars would probably attract a £15k premium on that.

Please excuse my ignorance, HGTE?

Handling Gran Tourismo Evoluzione

It was a£14k option from (I think) 2010 and included stiffer suspension, wider wheels/tyres, carbon everywhere and a new exhaust. Pretty sure shift times were reduced on the gearbox too. Factory cars had ‘Handling GTE’ embroidered on the seats so that’s how you tell; the kit could be retrofitted but I’m pretty sure pre-2010 cars didn’t get the gearbox update.

If you mean the one I'm thinking of, the penny has FINALLY dropped that it not selling, and so has the price; now £96K
I love the interior of that one with yellow stitching...

Don't know whether anyone is watching Devils on Sky at the moment. The main character drives a black 599 GTB as his d/d and every time it appears it just looks gorgeous. I had been toying with selling mine but now I'm glad I haven't.

I traded my 2008 RHD well looked after 599 with 45k miles on the clock recently. The best trade in price was £68k and I had been offered some very low prices. I think if it were for sale on collectors cars for example if would have achieved similar money. They are a complete bargain in my opinion but you have got to be very careful when buying. My ceramic discs had about 20% of life left on them and direct replacements would be around £25k, clutch is over £5k. I do miss the full sports capristo exhaust with that n/a V12, what a sound. The wheels do look too small on it these days. I ran with 21/22 inch wheels which worked well (still have these for sale).

I’m looking at 599’s at the moment. £25k for brake discs is a touch pricey. Is that from Ferrari? Do you know what the alternatives are? Surface transformations don’t list 599.

Was yours reliable?

Mine was very reliable. Outside of servicing nothing needed doing. Except for the work I elected to have done .. cosmetics etc. We went to Italy last September in it, through Germany on the autobahns and we cruised at decent three figure speeds topping out at over 180 for a while. It managed it all very well. From memory the discs would have been 25-30k from ferrari but there is a company who could do it for half. Can't remember the name but just search on here. The mileage on mine was 45k remember and I drove it hard.

Shameless advertising I know but mine's for sale at the moment. Black with tan leather 26k and perfect. Looking for a decent offer so I can move into something else and I don't have the garage space to keep both!

Chris there are alternatives to the Ferrari brake prices, i used a German company who refinish the discs with a better finish than original, price back then was around 40% of Ferrari parts. Having said that the £25k is a bit high I think, Ferrari parts are around £15k all in for front and rear discs and pads
