Hi all, after years of scrolling through these forums, i have finally gave in and created my own username. I understand this is a forum, and people are entitled to their own opinions, however there is a lot of nonsense that is thrown around on here regarding McLaren as a brand.

I would love to give owners advice/resolutions for issues/recommendations etc, i would love to give potential owners advice on these things also... as i feel the brand does take a beating on here, which is very frustrating when McLaren actually build probably the best performance cars on the road today (i am sure the other owners on here feel the same).

A bit about me, i have extensive knowledge of the brand, having worked for them for over 4 years, and i can honestly offer an unbiased, yet factual view on all concerns/questions.

If anyone has any questions etc, please PM me, i will monitor these regularly.. or simply ask anything on this thread. I hope i can be useful to some people... thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

Can you tell me the spec of the 720S which is supposed to weigh 1420kg DIN

Does it have F & R parking sensors ?
Does it have alarm and tracker ?
Palladium or CF bits ?
which seats ?
presume 10 spoke super lightweight wheels ?
Glass door tops or CF ?
Which exhaust ?

TIA

I'm obviously not being clear. Mclaren state a DIN weight of 1420kg for the 720S, I wanted to know what is the spec of the car which they say weighs 1420kg ie which options does it have/not have ?
None of the 720s tested came near to 1420kg even though some had CF bonnets and bucket seats so I wondered what the official 1420kg spec is ?

Ah ok I see what you mean. Like all manufacturers, McLaren don’t give to much away on that front. Give me 24 hours and I should be able to get an answer for you.

Yes apologies, with, not for.. Not that that particularly effects much.

As I said, I am just here if anybody would like any questions answered etc.. I will answer what I can, if I don’t know the answer, I will find out for you. (As said above).

Are you doing this for and on behalf of McLaren?

Haha, not at all. Just trying to be helpful that’s all. (If that’s allowed on here)

Hi, after putting a deposit on a 12c the test drive didn't go as planned. Still hoping they can resolve the issue, however I have now been looking at 570 spiders and wondered if you have an opinion on launch editions?

Would some have been used as press cars and demos and would that knowledge be available from a mclaren dealer before purchase?

Would a car used for that purpose give you cause for concern?

Thanks for any advice

It’s interesting to see the extent of McLaren employees on here (and dealerships). When I started the 720S Custom Paint Job thread, I received a few PM’s from employees commenting on the thread, which they would not otherwise feel comfortable posting in public. Nice to see someone coming out of the closet, so to speak.

Launch editions are easy to spot as the case with the ‘launch edition’ badge under the iris (by the cup holder). Tends to be curacoa blue, Sicilian yellow, blade silver, onyx black and Ventura orange. They also did the MSO version which was Murawai White, this had loads of carbon!

All faults tend to have been cared for now as long as the cars have been looked after by a main dealer since they were launched back in 2017. Be sure to as if the seals have been replaced in the roof. (Some has seals fitted that were 1mm to thin so caused small leaks).

These spiders are great value for money though, If you're budget can stretch to the spider then I’d go for one over the 12c any day of the week.

Does it seem to come from the storage compartment? And does it tend to be when it’s idling? If so, try use the A/C or heating.. sounds stupid it does stop the annoying rattling when in idle

Can you give me the main difference of the facelift 720s that came out late 2018, over the gen 1 720s.
Thanks
