Hi guys,

I am looking for front number plate solutions for my Huracan Performante after being pulled over by the police and given a NIP.

I have seen a solution on a post on pistonheads but it doesn't say where the bracket is from. Anybody any ideas?

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=17...

I am not keen on the italian supercar solutions as it sits very low on the car.

Also, are we allowed to run a smaller front number plate?

Thanks for any help smile

We were part of a Ferrari drive day on Thursday with another 12 Ferraris and we were all pulled in by a group of cops who took over a large layby. Most of the owners were issued FPNs of between £50 and £100. I had a Carbonia number plate holder and was let off. The offences varied from wrongly spaced digits, no front plates, smaller plates etc. Mine was a 5 digit personal plate but the right size and spacing etc.
There were no stick ons apart from the Pista with an obviously illegal much smaller 3 digit plate who was booked.

Surely what Lamborghini fit as standard to make it comply to Uk law is all you need ?

It’s about time they clamped down on stupid plates, ones without a plate and those that are now being tinted black

This.

Number plates are there for a reason.

In Malta the Government actually issue the plate and your car can be crushed if you try to get round the rules.

I got a local place to make me up a ally bracket which I used for both the Lambos I ran. Had it power-coated black, tiny thing and stuck to the bumper with 3M dual lock. Cost all of about £20. Worked perfectly, the number plate just stuck on to the vertical part (approx. 10x25cm) and was rigid enough to sit in place. Couldn't see the bracket unless up real close. Magnetic option would work like this too. I think the law now says you only need 11m either side of the first and last character. I run a McL now and just use a sticker plate as do 99% of other owners.

Absolutely why do people particularly boy racers and supercar owners think they are above the law

The bracket is sold by Lamborghini. Requires drilling into the front bumper IIRC

Same here in the US. The DMV issues the plates.

Try Fourdot plates, they made a custom legal plate for my LP560 Gallardo that was pre-bent to the bumper contours. They may have something for the Huracan also?

I ran my GT3 for three years with no front plate, I liked how it looked but I had the plate fitted for the first MOT at three years and I feel much happier driving it now I’m not asking to be pulled over.

I just don’t understand why some people are so keen to not have a front number plate. Why give the police a reason to stop you?

Exactly.
They aren’t interested if your vehicle gets stolen, even if it’s fitted with a tracker so they know exactly where it is, but they’re happy to spend ages on something like this, and fine you, if it takes their fancy.

He’s asking for a numberplate holder so lay off him!

Might be more sympathy if the OP was asking for a holder for a car they’d just picked up, rather than asking for a solution after the police had given them a ticket.

It’s not because they want one, it’s because they have to have one and have been pulled up on it.

I have just fitted the Carbonio bracket to the 812GTS - seems robust and allows one to display a fully legal plate. Good solution I think.
