I “did” the front number plate of my 599 coming out the underground car park at the Hotel Planet just before doing the Mille Miglia Tribute. I have all these professional photos they give you at the end showing the number plate held on with string and sticky tape (which we bought in the super May next door to the Planet). Hasn’t put me off touring though.

Sorry Taf, missed this.

She is still on the Zeros she came with.
And Race of course smile
Even new Zeros are going to struggle in the cold and damp at this time of year. Time expired ones even more so.

Get some MPS4S on.

Some will go on in the spring.
She was certainly skittish this morning in the 0C conditions.

She either goes on sottos in the next week or so or gets tucked up for winter.

After a delayed return ferry yesterday I finally got back to York at 2:30am this morning (docked at 8:15pm yesterday but it took forever to get off. Not Covid or Brexit related as passport control was the same as usual, just Brittany Ferries. French so maybe if the ship had reversed all the way we might have been early ;-) ).

Car was faultless throughout. Even just cruising at 75-80mph back up last night through rain and snow it's a joy to be in. The JBL sound system is superb and the car gets constant thumbs up and requests for a blip everywhere I go. Lovely thing, I believe I shall keep it.

Full clean tomorrow and then it's tucked up until Spring so I get chance to drive some other cars for a few months. It's not as grotty as I had expected it to be...

Steady. We went to look at villas and ended up not liking the area at all. TBH Italy is where my heart is but we want a winter place and the weather isnt good enough. I found the Spanish food mostly mediocre, the coffee worse and the weather, which I had been told would be 20c ish wasn't anywhere close. So, the Spanish mainland is out and we're gonna look in the Canaries which means odd weeks and weekends away instead of 4 months every winter (cos I cant leave the mutt for months on end and I dont fancy flying her - best mate and all that).

Otherwise though even though the roads were largely tedious dual carriageways the F12 is just glorious. Even cruising through the UK at 78mph (about as quick as I'm prepared to go these days on our motorways even with TomTom and Waze running) it's just a spectacular thing to be in. To my mind it's superbly balanced between being a murderous bd that wants to kill me when I'm pushing on, something I like in a car, practicality and a great cruiser. The perfect GT really.

She clicked over 30k miles on the drive back from Portsmouth and I'm absolutely determined to put 100k on the clock. My 458 Spider is on 28k and that will never, ever be sold. I've specified in my Will that I have to be buried in the Spider. Wish I could be around to see how my wife/sons will deal with that. Hahahahaha!

Top bombing Leg!

I offer a note of caution on the burial though. I had similar statements about being buried in my 4C, as it was the closest thing to a modern Stratos and I loved it. I still sold her for the F12 earlier this year though…

I really really want to be brave enough to keep racking up the miles like I have done in the F12 since July, but I’ll have to wimp out soon.

Leg, I look forward to seeing report of your road trip to The Canaries. Where do you get the ferry from? (BTW if you want winter sun in mainland Spain you have to go to the very South - the Costa del Sol. We had a villa in Marbella for 10 years and certainly got plenty sun and warmth in the winter. In the end though we decided that we’d had enough and the proceeds from selling the villa continue to pay for a lot of expensive holidays).

Yeah, this. My mum and stepdad moved to the northern Algarve (right on border with Alentejo) about 12 years ago. Bought a run down place and did it up. Weather there is phenomenal. Been there several times for christmas and had 20 degrees and sunshine. Of course you get some cold nights but that Atlantic coast is superb, unspoiled and..... great value. Beaches are wild and beautiful. Have driven there and back quite a few times no problems, and her place is only an hour from Faro airport so for quick visits it's a breeze too! Friendly people.

Anyway, V12s....

Been out and about getting to grips with my (now) manual 599, and a nice sunrise near the office last week

Q for you please: I plan on doing the Santander ferry in May and neither my 812 or f12 have lift so not sure whether to take them or just take the 550 which has more clearance? Advice needed please.

The humdrum stuff that really became quite special cool

First to Morrisons to collect my Amazon parcel

Then the local tip to do recycling

Then B&Q to get some self tapping screws

Then during storm something or other I drove the Cat and Fiddle twice. Weather was so crap at the top I didn't get out of the car.

I really was quite intimidated by the car the first time I drove it. It only became mine on Friday and it is the first truly big power car I have ever owned.
I also took it to somewhere private and quiet to launch it and max it out. I have to say O! M! G! driving
Needless to say didn't get anywhere near max before I was like, 'this is enough for now'. A trip to Germany is now being planned!

What a car! I really love that it is quite subtle. As one person said to me, it could be a Toyota Supra! biglaugh

Mine does have lift but you don't need it. I've done the P&O and Brittany ferries in my 458 Spider too and that doesn't have lift, still no issues. You may need to approach parts of the ramp at a slight angle but there's plenty of clearance in my experience.

I'm doing a road trip in my Exige EX460 in June with some Lotus friends and we're doing Plymouth to Santander. The Exige is very low and has a huge front splitter. That is likely to scrape but the ferry staff are pretty good and usually have some bits of wood to help.

The new Brittany Ferries boat (Galicia from Santander) is simple to get on and off. No need for lift. I have lift on my 992 TTS and didn't bother using it.
