Going from a 991.2 GT3 to an 812
Discussion
I had a 991 gen2 GT3 Clubsport and changed to an 812SF.
Whilst I enjoyed the GT3, I did find it too extreme for me. The luggage space was somewhat limited with the roll cage. The bucket seats were wonderful but not always popular with passengers as they struggled to get in and out.
The engine needed to be revved quite hard to get the full on noise, but I found it a bit all or nothing,
I prefer the 812. The standard seats are very comfortable. It is much more practical with the rear hatch. I have used it for trips to the supermarket as well as holidays and track days.
Mine does have Carplay. In unfamiliar roads it is very helpful to have advance warning of approaching speed cameras. I also think front lift is essential.
The engine is fantastic and makes a terrific noise without having to rev to the limit. I do find it more intimidating drive than the GT3. It feels a larger car, but in actual fact is almost the same size. I think this is more to do with the fact that everyone appears to be interested in a Ferrari.
It is rare to stop anywhere and not have someone come and chat.
I prefer the drive to the GT3, in bumpy road setting it is very comfortable. It has more than enough power and the thrill of flooring the accelerator never wears off.
Maybe if I had chosen the touring option, the differences wouldn't feel quite so marked. Overall, I think it is a step up compared to the GT3.

Also - what do you guys do to get around the lack of CarPlay integration (most don't have this option ticked)?
Its very personal decision and really depends on how you use your phone. I specced CarPlay on my 812 and wouldn't consider a car without it. For my use which is everything from central London to potholed country roads, lift is essential too.mc_blue said:
So Graypaul Birmingham has very kindly agreed to let me drive one - will report my findings back.

How did you get on with the test drive? I've recently bought an 812SF and love it. It took about 300 mile of driving to get used to it's character . Mine has CarPlay but I would only use it for navigation. For music, the bluetooth works great. Get round the lack of Car Play? Er, I’ve never found a need to use Car Play. The right hand screen has Nav and Radio. I plug my phone into the usb cable and that gives me music. Job jobbed.
Unfortunately I love my Waze far too much.Thinking just a decent mount - presumably the nav would then go through the speakers or not sure if there's any retrofit products out there? I know there are adapters but will have to do some digging or find one with the CarPlay option ticked!
You don't need to add anything, just put the phone in a visible location.
I also want a GT3 but will never give up my 812 (unless its for the prettier F12).
