Thanks, my XJR is a 2005 (so the 4.2SC), Japanese import so body in amazing condition but at 20 years old it had some foibles that I decided I'd attend to this year. I have been very impressed with it, a lovely car!

The reason I'm hanging around in this corner of PH is that I'm hoping to buy a 550M in the near future, I won't be tracking it (although I plan to use it) so hopefully my expenditure on that will be less than your 599 but it will be what it is!
20 year old cars, they're needy smile

Fingers crossed for your 550M

MDL Supercars has been doing a little costing for me.

New oil pump. New oil rings. New heart attack.

I'm pretty sure the prices for OEM Ferrari parts is just having my pants down.

On that, here's an interesting post with crossover parts

https://www.ferrarilife.com/threads/ferrari-360-cr...

Anyway, before stumping up for OEM Lee pointed me in the direction of

https://www.performanceunlimited.co.uk/

Let's see what they recommend and how they compare to OEM

In the meantime a few more shiny crackle pop

Gearbox oil cooler

Cam covers and intake

Standard suspension is Delphi’s MagneRide.

I have decided to change the suspension based on track performance. When you adjust the suspension from the manettino, the compression and rebound change equally and no matter which mode, I can't get fully confident.

In race there's too much vertical movement over bumps. In sport it rides the bumps better but too much pitch and roll.

With the TTX, I'll have high and low speed compression and seperate rebound adjustment. Spring rates will be more track focused but better damped so should have a more compliant ride. I'm changing to Motorsport bushes, no rubber. And then a geometry change, all to hopefully help me go around the ring a little safer angel

Leo at Madeno Racing in Tholen Netherlands.

He will install his Motorsport spec bushes, custom top mounts for the Ohlins which will give more caster. Will also have his settings for camber and toe. Car will be corner weighted with his settings for ride height and rake.

And 100% agree on centre gravity.

A little update on the pistons. Lee sent a sample to Dave at https://www.performanceunlimited.co.uk/ for 3D scanning.

This is his response and the CAD image

The piston from the photo looked like a flat top but is dished, also the pistons have off set pins. With the Nürburgring use you mentioned I would suggest high carbon tool steel piston pins.

The oil rings would be a three piece design, an expander and two rails, material GhN gas nitride.

As the owner of a 2004 XJR, I can confirm at this age they can get a little needy biggrin
