Potential 599 purchase
Discussion
Hi Joscal - no matter what you spend or keep on top of, it’s not going to make it handle or turn in better than an F12. I had mine back around 2013

Looked great - but to me, the back end just felt ‘disconnected’ compared to other great cars I owned at that time (Merc AMG & 911). I’d had a couple of auto-mated Astons before, and even their g-boxes were friendlier to use.
Mine was just 3 years old and had the better handling HGTE pack, but even so, not good. OK, it did sound great, and in a straight line, it’d go like stink, but the power delivery just sort of overtook the chassis. All as described by DeejRC.
That was my first Ferrari and nearly my last (never drive your hero’s!!) went V8 route for a number of years after before 812 & now 12C
In my opinion, take a good test drive, on a mix of roads and draw your own conclusions.

You made me laugh then Ano
In truth the 599 was always my hero when it came out. I loved the looks, etc and when I started looking, I was at £90k 599s. In fact if Carrs hadn’t sold the one I wanted the Friday before I went at the weekend to look seriously at it, I’d have bought it.
Somehow that £90k 599 became £150k F12 and then er an actual £170k F12. No, I’m not sure how the man maths escalated and stretched that far either !
Just drive them. See what you like, how they feel.

Thought I’d check the original EVO reviews and this appeared yesterday.

Can’t be ‘that’ bad, I’ll keep telling myself that as I put a deposit on one subject to inspection.
I think they are stunning and coming from Porsches at almost twice the money what could possibly go wrong…

This really swung it for me, this is my era and I’ve wanted one since then.

Yes - but it’s a 9 year old video, time’s moved on! That first section shows the Grigio car lurching through the bend!! https://youtu.be/KkKHAMmrDcA?si=zv07NP4ZCyit1Xr1
Have a good, long, varied road test drive……just saying; been there, done it, got the T-shirt

It’s your choice at the end of the day - yes they look epic but…….can’t say we’ve not warned you.

Lol Graham I like a challenge to be fair! I’ve done the GT3 and thing and realised outright ability is lost on me, as I get older I like a bit of comfort. Have a good, long, varied road test drive just saying; been there, done it, got the T-shirt

I’ve been driving my late fathers C5 Aircross and I absolutely love it.
Read into that what you will…..

Joscal, did you buy the HGTE? I bit the bullet and bought one. Like you I've come from GT3's . GT3 RS's, McLarens and TVR's back in the day. Thoroughly enjoying the experience and learning to drive the car smoothly...I'm sure it wants to stuff me into the nearest tree in the wet!I did puckrup, great to hear you’re enjoying yours!
I haven’t got it yet, got a PPI done last week which it passed with flying colours and just waiting for a few bits of paperwork to get completed.
Yours was probably one of the ones I was watching (good ones didn’t hang about!)
Health to drive and enjoy.

Congratulations!!! HGTE's are few and far between, mine came from GreyPaul Edinburgh in Grigio Silverstone. Delayed a few weeks to get instrument binnacle and dashboard airbag leather recovered and stitched. Amazing car all round! (I've just ordered a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S - the Pirelli P Zero's didn't lend a great deal of confidence.

The one with tan leather puckrup? If so lucky boy it’s stunning and 2 year warranty will give you peace of mind. Mines been in storage at Maranello since 2018 so tyres are needed, haven’t looked into them yet. Maura I’m sure the F12 is amazing and a better car but I’ve hankered after a 599 since seeing one in Milan traffic many moons ago.
