I’m on the hunt for a Ferrrari V12 and a 456 is on my short list, along with the 400/412 and possibly a 550.

The trouble is - it’s very hard to gauge what they’re actually like without being a passenger in one.

Is there a PH member in the South East that would be willing to show me around their 456?

There's a blue manual car on Collecting Cars but better be quick as it's going off tonight .

At £33,250 at the moment with just under three hours to go.

I did see that but without having ever been in one, that would classify as a risky purchase in my books!

If you would like a 456 speak to Mike Wheeler at Rardley. He is very knowledgeable about them. What is your definition of south east, ie how far would you travel?

Mike Wheeler is definitely the 456 man in the UK - highly recommended, super helpful.

re. the fuel guage issue - I had the same issue with mine, when parked in sloping garage forecourts - it would just say empty all the time, until emptied and filled again. Can't recall whether fuel float was replaced or just the arm was bent. Never had a problem since - so its a reasonably easy fix.

Today my manual 1995 456 had it's MOT, and passed.

I noticed that I've driven 6,000 miles since the last MOT, which surprised me slightly as this is one of 6 cars in my collection and it only really get used for longer journeys. I have a daily driver and a couple of other exotics.

I've taken the car to Scotland twice and Piedmont in Italy for roadtrips in the past 12 months. The car has something like 66,000 miles and is getting better and better. Iain Tyrrell said on his 456 Youtube video that these V12 engines only really get run in at 50,000 miles, and I'm not going to argue with an expert like Iain.

My observations are twofold.
1. I am pleased that I did not spend top money for a low mileage car. I believe that that cars like these work better when used rather than stored. I do not need to worry about putting miles on my car as it already has 60K. I get to drive a manual Ferrari V12 without worry.

2. How well my 456 performs as an exciting, engaging, comfortable and reliable grand tourer.
