Chaps. During my service, turns out my fuel cap (the inside bit has come away) needs replacing as this may lose pressure and cause engine lights to come on.

Ferrari want silly money for a new one. Anyone know where to get one?

Thanks

I'm thinking about having a trip over for this, assuming there's decent accommodation near by and something to do in the evening. Any other owners fancy a road trip?

I am definitely going to swap my Noble for the Strad this summer so I can have it in London for a bit.

My garage is very close to Hollywood road. Have you never seen my blue Noble poncing past Brinkleys? wink

Damn. Wish I'd seen this. I was cheering around Knightsbridge and Sloane street and then past Hollywood arms in the Noble. We could have done a convoy and gone for a pint. Although I'd have just been jealous as you'd be in a CS and mine is stuck at Ferrari about to have the ECU sent off to stop the engine light coming on. Dull.

Why aren't 360CS's selling?

Dick Lovett's have 5 for sale and I'm reliably told that they have 'more out the back' that they're not advertising(?)

Other dealers have cars that haven't sold in a year or more, some of which have had very significant price reductions and still haven't sold...?

People have been obsessed with all the modern stuff. TDFs and GTOs and upcoming Superfasts. Think people are up for making a quick buck on a new car flip rather than buy the best sounding and most significant Ferrari in the last 15 years.

They'll all realise their mistake when they get bored of the fake tailpipes and slightly fabricated sounds as well as the plethora of turbos on all the new stuff!

Because they're overpriced.

would love to own a CS, but calling it the most significant (recent) Ferrari is maybe a bit of a stretch. Arguably a GTO is more significant and it is a V12, which is still the much more relevant engine configuration in terms of Ferrari history
I still believe eventually the CS might well become be the most expensive 8 cylinder road car (F40 and GTO excluded)

This. I saw the price of a red RHD car yesterday advertised on here and was astonished.

I find the paradoxical nature of collecting cars fascinating.

A car becomes collectable because of its mechanical attributes, and yet mustn't be driven in order to preserve its value?! What's the point of a car being desirable because it "is the last of the NA V8's" for example if you aren't allowed to actually enjoy that dynamic?

The really true classics are mileage insensitive . Can I put 100,000 miles on this and will people still want it. Didn't Rowan Atkinson crash his F1 several times, put a ton of miles on it and it still sold for millions? Pass that test and you have a winner!

We have gone through nearly a decade of relatively risk free ownership of supercars with respect to benign depreciation by historical standards and large price jumps for some lucky models. It has imprinted on a large percentage of drivers.

But in the same time the Dow has tripled, the Nasdaq is up 6 times, International property prices have risen dramatically etc. I know where I prefer to have my money for speculative investments. Buying any car specifically to try and make money is not a good idea IMHO.

I'm guilty of wanting the next, newest thing - and I think the generation following me is even more that way inclined. My teenage son has no interest in the "classics". I do think people will be very disappointed with their expected returns on these cars in the future.

The 360CS may be a great car to some - but for the money they want - there are far better modern cars whatever people say to try to convince themselves and others IMHO.

Edit: Clearly there are owners who drive and enjoy their 360CS to its full. They obviously disagree with me otherwise they would be selling theirs at current market prices and replacing them with something more modern! Respect to those owners - for them I hope it does become a collector classic!
