I think one good thing about the classic look of the 308 GTB/GTS cars (and 328 series to a degree), is that they look like old cars.
"Obvious! - Duh!" you might be thinking, but what I mean is, other drivers (for other drivers read : "boy racer knob heads in Honda Civic Type R's, ST Fiesta's and Focus', and other such like cars"), don't see them as worthy of their attention, and don't feel a need to outrun them at all costs, because although it's a Ferrari, it's old.
One of the things that used to annoy me whilst out driving in my 348 TS ("which is no spring chicken these days!"), was the number of tw4ts in their hot hatches, and modified pieces of cr4p, who felt a weird need to out run a Ferrari, as though it was some sort of "badge of honour" thing - Bragging rights when they meet up with their mates: "Oi bro!, guess wot?, I smoked a Ferrari the other day! Completely blew his doors off with a mega overtake! He tried to get me back but couldn't stay with it"
I'm talking about people committing dangerous overtakes on blind bends, with double solid white lines on the road, Doing Grand Prix starts at traffic lights/junctions etc., as fast as they could, as they could, and in some cases, overtaking, and then slowing down immediately, to try to tempt you into overtaking them back, so they could pull away from you.
I lost count of the number of times I ended up pulling into a lay-by a pub car park, and just sat there for a few minutes, or ended up taking a different route, just to get the knob heads out of my life ASAP (as far as I was concerned, my car had nothing to prove, and neither did I!)
With the 308's (and 328's), I get the impression that, because they look more like classic cars, rather than modern cars, that is less likely to happen (no guarantee though - Knob heads are knob heads for a reason!)
I am inclined to agree. Although I still get tail-gated occasionally - despite avoiding the obvious boy racer haunts."Obvious!

Overall, I don't think beating a 40 year old car carries much weight when it comes to bragging rights!
A 328 GTS has just been listed at KHPC (aka The Ferrari Centre) at £66k. Cars like that were being listed at £20k more earlier in the year.

Great Buys 2020 - any thoughts ?https://karenable.com/great-buys-2020/ ......
My first thought is: That article is aimed at the American market, not the UK market. Whilst there are some similarities between the two markets at the moment, they are rarely in synch, so I would take any predictions with a pinch of salt (Not only for that site, but for all of the American based: "Here's what you should buy now!" sites/pages/articles [unless of course you're in America!] )

If you think the UK prices of 308/328 GTB's/GTS' are about to take off once again in 2020, I suspect you're in for a disappointment. At best, I'd say the prices may stabilise at current levels, but I think it's more likely that prices will continue to drop in 2020, and possibly into 2021 (I don't see the prices collapsing, but I think they will continue to slip back by @ £5K ~£10K).

Interesting, although aimed at the US market so an appreciating pound would make those prices even more attractive. Enjoyed reading his review of driving the 308. I'm envious of those roads they have in the US! Looks like prices have come off the peak by about 20%. However, some of the SOR cars at dealers are still too much and tend to be sticking around. Agree the downward trend will continue

Of the independents selling this age of car, can anyone recommend a good one?I know of most of them I believe by name but would welcome any positive views (or please PM me if there is anyone I should avoid dealing with from the outset). Ideally where I could start with a 308 and work my way through a series of cars over a few years (so someone that stands by what they sell).
Thanks for all the advice so far on this thread.
I'd say Tim Walker, Rardley or Nick Cartwright. Most others in my opinion wouldn't necessarily have specialised knowledge of these and having run one for several years it's very important to get a good one from the outset. A lot of cars look pretty on the surface but are not good overall. Thanks for all the advice so far on this thread.

They started trading in the early 80's, and have decades of experience dealing with Ferrari 308/328's

I'm sure there are plenty of others that meet this criteria!

+1 on Foskers I'm sure there are plenty of others that meet this criteria!
Personally, I would avoid the Italian opera Ferrari specialist (Google: "La Triviata"). A few years back they got caught carrying out some very shady business practices (easily found with a Google search), and for me: $h!t sticks!

Their twitter account was last active in June 2018 (6 years after a courts winding up order was issued to the company), and their last facebook post was 27th February 2015 (3 years after the winding up order), so it seems they had started trading again after the winding up order, as if nothing had happened, but may well have closed again - Perhaps someone else could confirm if they're closed or not?
If they are still trading, I would touch them with a 10 foot barge pole!

Thanks Taffy. Timing was perfect as this was one of those occasions when the right car at the right price turned up.I'd love a Dino but they are worth more than all my cars put together which doesn't seem like a good deal to me. Agree the 308 is remarkable value in comparison. Although Ferrari made far more of course.

Did you consider the 1980 GTB in Dorset, which I notice has dropped nearly £10K to £60k and has my attention.
