I have owned my 512BB for 18 months and love it more now than when I first bought it. Some cars are like that, and a 512BB just does it for me. I enjoy fast cars and the fun of driving, in town its a bit of a handfull the plugs will foul and the engine always seems to be wanting a good rev to clear its throat. However, when out of town and with a clear road the car has a different side to it, almost like it was born to race. Standard the car has some 360hp but this one was tuned to a Le mans specification for Chris Rea by Nigel Mansell racing so boasts 465hp which is not too bad even by todays standards. On the over run the car back fires and spits flames, all adding to the experience of driving one of the last 12 cylinder carburetored cars to leave Maranello. It does have its faults, the lights will often not work, the windscreen wipers are useless, there is little storage room, the seating position is Italian, from cold the engine bellows smoke! All of the problems are so forgiven when you drive off on a clear summer morning to the sound of 4 triple choke webbers feeding a five litre Ferrari flat twelve.

Hi, first post.. Trevora, that is one amazing BB. I believe that you used it in a convoy of TVRs last weekend for a neighbour of mines wedding? When he mentioned your BB I knew of it straight away.

This Ferrari was owned by a very good mate of mines friend, Jim. He kindly lent it to my mate to use for my wedding in 2007. Which was also in Locksbottom.

It is the one and only Ferrari I have ever driven. Having it there made my day.

That car is truly special.

996type, yes this is the one with the signed visors.

Dave.

Someone just sent me this picture from a Facebook post.
Apparently, this lovely old 512BB is languishing in a suburban driveway looking very unloved.
Not MOT tested since mid 2008.
Surely, someone on here can shed some light on the background to this car.

I can't shed much light but that's rather a sorry sight. I know Mike Wheeler at Rardley Motors sold it to its fourth owner in about 2006. It had done under 20k miles at the time and given it has been SORNed since 2008 I guess it hasn't done many more since. At the time Mike was selling it in 2006 he described it as "...without doubt one of, if not the best 512 BBi’s in the UK or anywhere come to that!...".
