Autocar top speeds were recorded on the Millbrook banked bowl. Even Tiff Needell could only get 195mph out of a McLaren F1 around there, due to the fact that you're constantly turning left and scrubbing the tyres.
Excuse the tangent, but since it's come up...

As many on here may know, Millbrook's High Speed Bowl has markings in each of the five lanes indicating the speed at which the car will stay perfectly placed with no steering input required (40/50/60/75/100mph). There's a fantastic story of two motoring journalists who once planted a Bentley on cruise control in either the 75mph or 100mph lane, then very carefully both climbed into the back seats just to say they'd done it (before swiftly returning). I've heard there's photographic evidence - but never seen it.

We would highly recommend it!

Fantastic, beautiful car that's holding value well.

The 512TR looks totally stunning, the 512M on the other hand looks like a turd in a swimming pool.......

Picked my 512tr up 2 weeks ago. Had the biggest grin all the way home. Really like it a lot. Was very surprised how user friendly it is, especially compared with my Countach. Fantastic engine and gearbox. No squeaks or rattles inside, rides great. Can look quite big and intimidating from outside, but once on the move feels surprisingly small.

This LHD 512M didn't sell at auction yesterday and H&H are inviting offers.

Guide price was £170-190k if anyone's interested.

I simply can't get over the styling although I certainly appreciate the car itself but what the heck were they thinking?!!
The 512TR looks epic whereas the F512M gives the impression they sent an apprentice designer to have a rummage through the F355 parts bin.

matter of perspective I guess ....
from my point of view - yes definitely
accountant view - not so much I suspect

there is a very big spread on prices - from 100k to well in excess of 200k. I wonder how big the quality difference is between the cars.

Do the TRs have any significant weak points? Anybody on here ever had to rebuild an engione or a transmission? What are other really expensive items?
Thanks all

Seems a shame to let this thread pass on...

The way this feels relative to any modern Ferrari is still on another dimension. Absolute driving pleasure.
