Gandini's GT4 sketches...

There was a superb interview with Gandini last week on Davide Cironi's YT channel. He only mentions the GT4 in passing. but you really get the feel of the man and his process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZJtMmMhj0Q

Watched that a few days ago after someone on Ferrarichat posted it - excellent clip.

The GT4 gets better looking as the years pass. Another worthwhile link c/o Ferrarichat here, a peek into the Bertone archives...

Looks very purposeful - are the wheels 15'' or 16''...?

Excellent cars. I was at petrol garage one morning and a total stranger climbed out of her Saab and complimented the design. She made particular comment on how cool the wing mirrors were.
The next week I researched and discovered Ferrari shared the same units with Lauda's 1976 F1 Ferrari. How many street cars have that lineage ?!

I ended up taking the Saab driver for supper the following Sunday. Transpires she was an architecht smile

Nothing sounds quite like a carbs Ferrari / Lamborghini. A real treat

In summer 2015, i flew out to Milan to inspect a 3.0 CSL for a client.
I hit it off with Giovanni, the lovely Gentleman seller instantly and we became good pals. Gio had a collection of around 12 cars, amongst which was his ( 78 model i think ) 308 GT-4. A highly original Italian market car, with a dk tan interior. It was the hotest day of the year so far, but Gio insisted that we go for a blast.
I had never been in one before ( but a good pals late Dad owned a red V reg one in 1982 and up to his early death a couple of years ago )

We spent a very enjoyable hour out in it and to say we turned Lots of heads is an under statement ! It was an incredible treat and a real occasion. The howl from the exhaust and the rasping of the Webbers was adictive!
We did the deal on his CSL and i had it shipped back to England. I said to Gio that if ever he wanted to sell the GT-4 to give me first refusal. He asked me if i could clean and treat the leather, which was drying out. Very sadly, he was diagnosed with a terminal ilness in late 2016 and he passed away in 2018.
I didnt have the funds available to buy his Ferrari, so i advertised it for his family for circa £50,000. Had no interest apart from a messer who offered £30. It sold in the end to an Italian buyer. Would love to see the car again!
R.I.P my dear friend.

Great story, I have also met some lovely people over the years buying and selling old cars. It's one of the nicest things about the hobby.

Moving the thread on .
They are great to drive all carbed and handing balance is sublime.
Mines been in Switzerland for 3 months over the summer we picked up a trophy or two classic alpine rallying.
The 2+2 is useful for little passengers .
Mechanically it behaved .....faultless .
One day we did 300 kms in the Alps with 15 timed stages inside ,

Odometer currently reads 93 K kms .
It’s far more enjoyable to drive , corner power out of bends then my previous Ferrari’s a Testarossa and even the 360 , the GT 4 is miles better fun .God bless Nikki Lauder RIP
